Unhappy guide for buying used bikes

hi guys, now i have very little or no experience riding a bike..so its a nut job to buy a new one and crashing it..is it a good idea to buy a used bike coz people advise me to get a second hand then go for the new one..if my bike is a new one ,then my eyes is set on the apache rtr 180 abs..but i have no prior experience riding one since the gear shift is single sided unlike- conventional double sided which i did not have much of a practice..i noticed a used honda unicorn 2005 model with 30k done and price tag of 35k and 2006 model of same make with a price tag of 30k..what do you guys think??..should i go for this one or any suggestions by you guys in going for a used one/new..if second hand what make and model(year of mfg) is best??i would be grateful if you guys plz give me your experience and info on this one i am really confused..

First of all, welcome to XBHP.

Next, unlike cars where most people opt for a second hand car and then a new one later on, I would advise you to go for a new one directly. The reason is, if you do crash which I pray doesnt happen, the spares do not cost a bomb mostly. When you are getting a new bike, start with a bike that doesnt have a lot of power for a beginner. Like a P150 or Unicorn. Apache's acceleration can be scary at times. But a P150 or Unicorn could be easy to start with. Good Luck!

I'd suggest that you go for Bajaj Platina if you are considering a new bike. It'll cost you nearly the same as a second hand Unicorn (3/4 year old). It has the big bike feel with excellent fuel economy and is perfect for the new riders.

Cheers!!

i second this motion!

the Pulsar 135 is my first geared bike. previously i've just tried my friend's bikes, mostly the 100-150cc like splendor, FZ, Pulsar 150.

even if you put all these together, i would not have crossed 500km. i learnt real biking with the P135. its smooth and wonderful. but if you are still concerned, go for the Platina. it is really cheap and very basic. will certainly help you to improve your biking skills
