hi,
Saibal here, from kolkata. I have some problem with my biking .. I am a daily bike rider for the last 20 years, now i am 41. last 3 years, I used light bike yamaha gladiator ss 125(its awesome!), but now have chronic arthritis and spondelosis problem and i have heavy pain with my neck, shoulder ,blade ,wrist ,also lower back too some times. ![]() But i cant live without 2 wheeler… i have 2 questions, please answer those. (btw I am 41 years and 6 ft height. Regarding journey, 40 km with lots of poth holes road with heavy traffic of kolkata.. 1. Switch over to scooter from bike to reduce my pain??.i mean scooter’s handling, refinement ,comforts r better than my bike?? ![]() 2. I narrowed down to wego, aviator, activa for my discussion, please suggest me activa(n other) have better handling than a bike?? otherwise will stay with a new lightweight bike … ![]() My only Requirement: Handling,Comfort. Aviator does seem like the bike for you. It has telescopic forks for comfort and it is also suitable for your height. Apart from that handling is quite good but not as good as the Dio. So if comfort is the priority go for Aviator or if handling is the priority, go for Dio.

If you want both the above, simply rule out Activa; I'm 35 & have riding Activa since 2005; from my experience...dump the suspension unless you're riding with one up. Wego, I'm not sure as I've not ridden one; Probably Access 125??? Reason being, its much softer than Activa.
How about motorcycles? Aren't you interested? There're some super comfortable motorcycle in the market on potholes.

I do understand your state and would advice you to stick on to the idea of a scooter.
geared two wheelers are to be ruled out as gout mostly affects bones at feet and arthritis affects knees mostly.constant shifting of gears and rear brakes would aggravate your condition. and among the scooters i would suggest something that is lighter and something that avoids a lot of bending.so do go check out the scooter, sit and check which makes you give in least effort. avoid long trips and if you need to,do take breaks. avoid bad roads as it worsens your condition but its India after all!! My feel is that scooters are meant for city use of 5-6KM's and are not meant for long distance travel. Anyday a bike would be better for traveling long distances. If you are still ok with riding bikes, I would suggest CB Unicorn which gives a comfortable seating position. Currently I own a TVS Wego, everything is good about the vehicle but still I get back pain when I drive it for a 10-12KM's stretch, no problems when using a bike(Super Splendor).
CB unicorn users can give their views about the comfort and riding experience of the bike. |
