Hi every1,
I am 23 years old, 5 feet 8 inches and weigh about 65kgs. I am looking for a 150 cc bike. I usually drive to my office which is nearly 40 kms away from my house and the road is 10 kms in the city and 30 kms on the highway. Other than this I prefer to go out for a long drive in the weekends. My preferences are 1. A good mileage of 50 kmpl 2. Nice sitting position (both for the rider and also for the pillion) 3. Nice looks I had a look at all the below bikes 1. Hero Hunk 2. Hero Impulse 3. Honda Dazzler 4. Yamaha FZS 5. Yamaha SZR 6. Suzuki GS150R Personally I have ruled out Impulse because even my pop has to drive the bike. I had to rule out FZS because of it mileage. I did not consider hero CBZ extreme because they are huge in number on the streets and I don’t like it much. I don’t know about Yamaha SZR much but would like to know more about it. I had a ride on the Suzuki GS150R and I think that it is a pretty decent bike but it misses the Killer looks (No offence meant ).I like the Hero HUNK but my friend is of the opinion that Honda DAZZLER is a better choice in terms of its engine, power pick up, gearbox performance, mono suspension and finally mileage. BUT I feel that it looks kinda small like twister . I liked the Hunk more.It is that my family has been a Hero Honda family so I like it that way probably. Even the spares of Hero Honda are easy to be found and they have a good re-sale value. I would like all the members who have had a chance at these bikes to enlighten me on the problems associated with the bikes (mostly Hunk seems to have problems). What would be the problems that I might be facing after 1 year or so. Please suggest me a bike. Any other suggestions are also welcome. Thank You.. Last edited by sunilg; 01-02-2012 at 11:47 AM. |

among dazzler and hunk, I'd go for dazzler because of the features your friend mentioned. Also, the pillion seat of hunk is not so comfortable.
Well, you can't get a perfect bike. You have to compromise on something. If looks mean that much to you, get FZ/R15. both return 45+ on sane driving

Perhaps if looks arent your thing then your riding condition with more of an highway so you may check out GS150R, a superb bike, but servicing and spares is a issue. |

The Hunk feels very outdated now.
The dual tone Dazzler launched in Nov 2011 looks a bit more appealing. The SZ-R is good for what it offers. Tough choice between the last two but if i was you i'd go for the Dazzler for a peace of mind. Or wait for the Auto expo in the next few days, there will be new 150cc commuters for the market.

i am a happy owner of dazzler and can say without thinking twice that it can satisfy your purpose perfectly. its not actually smaller except from front look. and your friend has pointed out exact plus points of dazzler.

I have already replied for this, but here I go once again -
Well, i think dazzler wins here, but just by a whisker! Hunk is having shorter gear ratios which takes a toll on its top end. Dazzler’s top speed is much higher than hunk courtesy its high-lift cams! Also, Hunk’s kerb weight is very high for a 150cc bike. This affects its performance badly. In handling department a mono suspension bike is always better, though Hunk’s handling is not bad. But when it comes to engine refinement & gearbox, then it has to be dazzler. The only area where Hunk excels over dazzler is its amazing riding position! Dazzler seriously lacks a short handle & rear-set foot pegs which will make it a far better bike to ride. |
