HEY FOLKS.here comes another confused newbie
. shortlisted choices 1. new pulsars [dont know if they are really worth waiting] 2. RTR 180 [should i consider abs?] 3. RTR 160 fi 4. Fazer 5. ZMR 6. Any suggestions. requirements: 1. Moderate power to roam around in the city. 2. Moderately frugal machine [anything around 40 will do] 3. Reliability [intend to keep this 3 -5 years]. 4. Comfort for both rider and pillion. ps>>90% riding within city limits. Speeds likely to be kept under 100.sedate rider although occasional outburst of throttle. Budget upto 1 lakh. Intend to spend around 80 thousand and save the rest alloted money. Thanks in advance Last edited by sunilg; 01-16-2012 at 02:19 PM. |

1. New Pulsars [dont know if they are really worth waiting]
My Take: If you have the patience, then it should be worth checking it out 2. RTR 180 [should i consider abs?] My Take:Excellent choice with ABS, the ABS version might seem costly since one can get a P220 at that price, but that's probably the cheapest bike in the world with a proper ABS unit 3. RTR 160 fi My Take: The official website still has the info on this model but how many have seen a RTR 160 Fi on the streets? Is it still in production? 4. Fazer My Take: Only issue is with "Kitna Deti Hai..?" Better option would be to get the identical FZ-16/S sans the half fairing and save Rs. 5-6K 5. ZMR My Take: Better value is the Karizma R. Could save around Rs. 20K and yes would have to sacrifice the "choke free/hassle free" early morning "cold" starting experience of the "Fi" on the ZMR.. rest of the "stated" benefits of "Fi" is all academic and not tangible to the rider 6. Any suggestions My Take: Right now the RTR 180 ABS rocks my boat, unless you can wait for the Next Gen Pulsars to be unveiled.

As any one will say nothing more than a good test ride
.well its just an advice. 1.Considering in your place i will go for FAZER for its smooth engine and slick gearbox. 2.Zma can be considered but its mostly meant for highways so not in your case. 3.I think nothing more than rtr180 will satisfy the rider in you at this price.regarding ABS 10k is a genuine amount to be spent.make sure you get it if rtr180 is your choice. 4.Lastly i think pulsars are worth waiting but any way they don't match the japanese.

@Thread Starter,
on seeing your query, its seems both the mere 5-6Kms mileage or 10-15K extra i snot a problem for you. So simplly shortlist the Fazer and Apache 180 ABS. Test ride both and finalize. Fazer is my pick, coz if you are seeking a peaceful ride then even after 3-5yrs still you would be a Happy man. While the RTR will bring you fun, but you have to vibrate along with the bike for the next 3-5Yrs. Its a Rolla Costa ride vs a Smooth-sail boat ride

The only thing I doubt but not sure of, that doesnt fit for RTR here in your requirments is the pillion comfy, compare the seat lenghts of the bike you can find one that suits your requirment, and also the width ![]() ![]() (Frazer= Oouch my back!!). As Payeng said ZMA is a better VFM for sure and fits your requirments perfectly, but if you dont mind the extra buck ZMR is hassle free except for the Fairing Vibes. (In the 2years my bike never refused to start in the first punch and I maintain it pretty poor )
