Default Apache RTR, RE Thunderbird TS

Hi,

I've been thinking of buying a bike. I was fully convinced that the Apach RTR eFI was the bike for me, but then i keep hearing that the seating position is a bit uncomfortable for tall riders, especially on long journeys.

This led me to consider the RE Thunderbird for the more comfortable ride, and simply because it's an RE Bullet . But I'm concerned about the weight of the bike, and weather i'll be able to drive it through the regular city trafic.

I'm 6 foot tall and have an average build. My primary use for the bike will be for about 20 to 100kms of city/highway mixed riding everyday and a getaway or two every month.

Please help me.

Go for thunderbird
you would be better off with it if you can ignore tiny RE niggles.

What kind of niggles can I expect??

I've heard that the REs can leak oil at times, makes it difficult to crawl in the chennai traffic with all the weight, and requires the support of a reliable & knowledgeable mechanic. What else should I expect?

no oil leaks ,NOTHING! zilch.. oil leaks etc were for old pre 2000 bullets(and that too are fixable).
I got the 2005 Electra 4S.it simply works and works.. last time rode the bull continously WITHOUT break for 5hours plus for 200kms..no iron butt .

Only thing you need to expect is : no fast going ...it takes time to achieve speed.good torque.

i have ridden both the bikes .. for touring i consider thunder ..
but for short tours [less that 300km] + city i go for RTR

you can cut traffic like butter
