Hello
I am planning to buy one bike. But I am totally confused which one should I go for? I'm engineering student. My college is placed outside of city, so no worry about traffic that much.. Once in month, I will go for long drive (100-200 Kms).. Currently I've two options for me HH Karizma Yamaha R15.. I am looking for overall performance + AVERAGE of bike.. I expect ~40 average.. I am not stunt loving person but yet I like sporty look.. So please suggest which one should I go for and ZMA as well R15 owners please share your Experiences about Average of your bike.. What's the maintenance cost per month for both the bikes? THanks, Rahul Last edited by Rahulrulez; 04-30-2009 at 06:30 PM. Reason: Close the thread please :) |

@Rahul i am an FZ16 owner. so i cannot tell much of it...
Most the guys here will tell ZMA will be both for city commuting and also for touring and R15 is only for touring... In my opinion go for R15 if u have that much money and have a good mileage too... the amount is the only problem which i see in R15... as many says u will never feel the small rear tyre is a problem if u drive it... ZMA will also be good and will be in worth it for that money and also a good tourer... Better u test drive both the bikes and deside...

Well, the gearing of ZMA ensures a mileage of about 25 or so, in real life...
If you still want 40+ mileage, you have to maintain 4th-5th Gear Driving very carefully. Maintanence Cost is negligible for Karizma except for service and a bit more for R15 ... As for R15, it might usually deliver 40+. Bike India tests say 39 for City and 52 for Freeway.. I overall suggest R15 as it seems highway is your place. Remember, R15 pulls cleanly from 40+ in 6th Gear, which is for mileage ... -- @ Binoy: From the back, both ZMA & R15 have similar width tyre ... 100mm! I didn't compared R15 tyre to that of ZMA... Even the tyre is small it dosen't matter in the control or stability of R15... U will never feel the tyre is small...

First and foremost: R15 is very much ahead in terms of technology compared to most Indian bikes. Read about it in Bike India Feb issue&you'll know why. But all this comes at a price!
If budget is not a concern, I would surely recommend you the R15. It has been very well made both for city traffic&highway usage. You can cruise all day long at 80-100 without issues like overheating, loss of power etc. (read liquid cooling) Performance wise it can reach a higher topspeed than ZMA&P220. Handling&braking is out of the world. I doubt if any other Indian vehicle compares here. Mileage-I'm getting about 43 in city&48 on highways, which is higher than both ZMA&P220. If you maintain any vehicle well, it will last long&give you no hassles. I have not yet replaced any parts in my 8months/5000kms.riding so far. Take a test ride of both vehicles&if you're not satisfied, wait for some more new launches!

~40kmpl on R15 - City.... no sir,,,,, ZMA - Whatever ![]() The R15 is fun to ride on highways, fun to bend, but not really exciting bike for the highways.... The ZMA is a very good bike, but there are zillions around in the city... People call it a tourer, but honestly I wouldnt call it a tourer... they are crazy to handle on windy days.... and lets not talk about the mileage bit Now coming on to my suggestions ( which may be irrelevant to you) RTR-FI.... A definite looker in Orange! Hot as hell.... fun to use on the city roads and the hihgways.. crazy bike, some vibrations is you really intend to rip it hard.. FZ16 - Has the looks! lot of low end torque... not really great for highways.... if you plan to rip the bike to 1XX speeds... but good handling! CBF Stunner would be good option too, considering it has the looks and is a decent mileage bike! The rest are flooded everywhere!
