Question

I know this is kind of OT but didn't want to create a separate thread for now

Few months back i had an older colleague ask me these while at a casual chat on Enfield Diesels-

"What if there's a de-rated petrol engine instead of that diesel ?"
"Do we really need 18hp, 30Nm & 5000rpm for daily commute ?"

Hint was at multi-purpose petrol engines of ~350cc, 8-10hp, 20Nm, max ~4000rpm specs against the 'Greaves' diesel with 6.5Hp @3600 & 15Nm@2500 Rpm. There's no downsizing on engine capacity hoping not to drop Torque fig too much. Obvious cons are slower acceleration & limit in-gear speeds but then diesel is no better.

So what do you guys say ??

With 15+ yrs riding the bullet he made some pretty good reasoning, i'll post up seeing response here. Me too ride a Bullet so can guess how weird it might be to have an under powered engine but the idea of an Econo-bullet seems interesting.

cheers...

In 90's, this diesel bullet was revived by Auto India, Dilip Bam in his own style -
Soure: team-bhp

"Enfield has chosen to name it the Enfield Diesel rather than the Diesel Bullet. It probably did this considering the pickup of the bike.

The pickup is kaafi pathetic. I actually raced against a bicycle, and the cycle was ahead for the first 150 meters.

The quality of parts is in line with Enfields philosophy on quality........."our lips are sealed"!! I wonder why Enfield doesnt use the same seals on its front shockers as that which it uses to seal its lips.

Though vibrations dont bother Dilip Bam, they do bother the bike. Nuts and bolts come loose and parts keep falling off.

Safety is an inbuilt feature of this bike. There is no need to lock this bike, Nobody can steal it because nobody can start it."

Regarding mileage, it will easily give 60+ kmpl no matter how you ride. Hope, now you have a good idea what this bike is all about.

LMAO

Enfield should relaunch it's Diesel Bullet in 12-15 Bhp Engine...so that it can keep up with other commuter bikes on the road while on the same time return good average
