hey people
![]() Since many of you suggested me to go for a geared vehicle, i have shortlisted the apache rtr160,rtr fi,and the yamaha Fz16(any other suggestons would not be unwelcome).. Requirements are: 1. cost <75k.. 2. power doesn't matter(im not a stunter nor am i a avid rider!) 3. durability..(since im bound to harm the engine and transmission with my riding) 4. handling and drivability(im from blore and the traffic is crazy..) 5. comfortable ride.. 6. mileage is a factor.. 7. looks are definitely a factor too.. 8. low maintainence 9. not much of a tourer, city riding mainly.. My downsides are: 1.Im a rookie at driving geared vehicles..(learned to ride 1 some 15 days ago!) 2.i weigh 47 kgs and around 5'5 in height..(skinny!!) 3.daily commute is only around 10 kms.. 4.I absolutely dont know how to treat a bike!! 5.Fz probably looks macho for my personality.. 6.I cant differentiate 2 bikes by test riding them..(i'd be concentrating more on the road rather than the bike cos im a rookie..) I test drove the Fz tho and felt it was good..I even felt the old kawasaki i learnt to ride on was good too ![]() And another question in my mind is about the fi egines..are they better than the carb ones and are the local mechanics capable of servicing a fi engine?? The Better Bike in each matter are:
1. cost <75k: Well, don't know exact costs now ... 2. FZ would have the mid range torque you will need for a relaxing ride. 3. durability: Both bikes should be quite durable. I don't see why engine should be harmed. 4. handling and drivability: FZ is more suited for city riding.. 5. comfortable ride: Both the RTR's clip-ons and footpegs vibrate a lot, in the midrange itself! No such major issue with FZ. 6. Mileage is a factor: Here, RTR Fi would be better with around 55 kmpl. ... FZ might not return more than 40, blame on low gearing or rich mixture, whatever. 7.looks are definately a factor: Quite Subjective from person to person. Personally, I like the FZ look a lot unique & better than RTR ... My downsides are: 1. Well, if regular gear shifting is a problem, go for FZ ... FZ will ensure least gearshifts in cities. 2. Both bikes are suited to short riders almost equally. 3. Mileage and comfort are already discussed. So, 10 km ride affects in what way? -- My Conclusion: For a new & relaxed rider who wants to experience power early on in the rev range, and doesn't want to change gears a lot, FZ would be great. Fuel Efficiency might be an issue, but you can achieve 40-45 with sane riding. Looks are good enough, and things like grip, braking, handling, etc. are great. Apart from that, I wanted to suggest you RTR 180 which costs some 73k in my city on road! I have ridden it quite long, and it has evolved from the old RTR is a lot of ways. You can use the remaining 2k to get better quality tyres, than TVS Srichakra, which are less grippy. New tyres will enhance its general ride & braking. In case you love RTR's looks more, RTR 180 would be the way to go. Less Vibrations (mild in 4-7 krpm zone), better midrange power, etc. But remember, my first vote is FZ only. Its the most well equipped & balanced package for city rider. Last edited by Samarth 619; 07-23-2009 at 04:37 PM. |

if you are looking in the rtr160fi category, then why dont u give rtr180 a try......... its carb-ed........ the vibs are reduced........ better power range........ moreover tvs may launch performance kits........ it may not be of much concern to u........ but its always better to have option for further upgrades....... rest upon u.......

but most of those threads concern riders with enough practical bike riding experience..I have been searching the whole of xbhp but it seems im only one here who doesnt know to ride properly..so just thought a personal thread would be good.. |
