From the details you shared, it looks like a decent deal.

The reason for this is my own bike and my friend's zma in pune. My friends zma had 5 accidents from 2006 to 2009, 2 major ones, but he wasnt involved in any one of them, he had to give it to his uncles. Also his flatmate took it unknowingly out of pune and had an accident.
So, even though it got damaged like fork out, bent chassis, harsh engine, worn out clutch plates, but still the bike was repaired as good as a new one, and only scratches remained on the body and silencer. He changed those.
Also the front fairing did not break in any of those accidents, just the indicator became loose and scratched. And as u know, none of our bikes have leg guards so the fairing takes all the damage.
So every time his bike had accident, we used to go to castrol Bike Zone, and get it repaired. After the chassis and engine work, it was hard to tell that it had an accident.
Also, his uncle drove had that bike for 1 year in between and he used to put gears by kicking on the lever. He also drove below 1.5 k rpm, with constant knocking in the engine. He tried everything to mess up the engine. But when my friend got the bike back, just after 1 or 2 servicing, the engine was smooth and whining again.
So, is it really a tough nut as i think, or just plain luck or expertise of the repairing guys?
I wouldn't touch the bike with a 10-foot pole because its chassis was bent in a crash. The only way to fix a bent chassis is to replace it.

The ZMA engine is reasonably tough, if maintained well. The fact that his 'uncle' and 'friend' have crashed the bike is reason enough for me to stay well away from a deal such as this. It looks like anyone who wanted to was welcome to use the bike, especially sine the friend took it out of town 'unknowingly'.

No need to get fixated on any bike. Its your money and you want to buy the best possible for your brother, so move on, be patient and you'll soon be rewarded.

hello arya809

It is always better to go for new bikes but if you want to go for second hand one go ahead but you have to be over conscious especially when you buy ZMA , i agree its a great bike and gives you great comfort .
You can find a good second hand bike for reasonable price but things you should keep in mind

1. The most important thins is check the nature of the previous owner.
Most of the karizmas are ripped apart by teenagers . Ensure that the owner maintained the bike well and ASK him the reason for selling the bike . if you find any thing fishy in his reply double check the bike .

2. Check the bikes engine p[properly including clutch plate , gear box and everything. But to be frank karizmas problem wil be revelaed clearly only if you ride above 100 and try to push the bike to its limit. Believe me i have personal experiance on this

3. Check the body parts clearly , check for any cracks or broken parts.
Check the tyres and especailly battery.

Plz remember that the Karizma parts cost very high so if you are not checkign the bike peroperly with a good mechanic (and testing it avove 100) you may find problems later . You will try to fix it and make it as new by replacing the damaged parts and at the end totally , it may costs you more than (or nealry equal ) to a new bike.

SO ensure that you check the bike properly before you buy.
If every thing is fine and perfect you can spend up to 55 k for a 2 year old ZMa(provided it do not need any reapair work ) .Its worth that much if the bike is in perfect condition.
but if you buy a 40 k bike which is having a lot of issues you will eventualy end up spenting more than 60 k totally to make it in perfect condition since the parts will cost high.

So chose your bike carefully ,
no doubt ZMa is a great bike even it is second hand. It is different from other bike . As i read somewhere in this forum Karizma age gracefully
so go ahead with your plans of buying a second hand ZMa if you ready to spend some time and effort in inspecting the bike .

All the best.
