  • Honda CBR250R: The smarter edition

Hey folks!! As vijayadashmi is getting closer, and you all will be reading this on that festive eve, I , out of all the evil bikes in the market, chose to ride a disciplined and obidient machine. The Honda CBR250R. Going to the technicals the DOHC engine produces 26.5 bhp's and 22.9 Nms which are achieved quite early at 8500rpm while the engine redlining at 10500k.

Talking about the engine, you get the same old tried and trusted engine which is tuned for a honda characteristic performance. This in turn says that the engine has all the grunt to start you from zero but this does not mean that it is weak at the higher end!! It still has that racy power to deliver at top end. Though the engine is not rev friendly and also gets buzzy as you reach the limits but the things are still manageable.
The braking on the bike is adequate(I rode the ABS version). provided by nissin, the brakes do have a poor feel at low speeds but they wont disappoint you at high speeds. The ABS also works good in sync but I really didn't felt the need during my ride as the tires were sticky enough!!
The main factor where the bike exceeds all it's competitors is it's suspension setup. They are comfort soft at low end and surefooted at the high speed corners. One can feel them slightly softer if already are used too a stiffer setup. But the Pro-link suspension is not a marketing gimmick. It does its work really well. It will handle all your city rides well and also support you on track.
The Looks!! Honda made it eye catchy right from version 1 and the betterment continues in this version also. The sticker livery gives a signature look and so is the new LED headlamp. One cant resist it!! Still Honda could have given a different set of graphics to this as the hornett also shares the same theme.
The handling of the bike felt nimble to maneuver in the city. Also the bike was good in corners. The rider positioning is done well.
The Quality honda gives is top notch and one can easily see what is he getting for INR 1.9 lakhs ex-showroom(ABS). Also no one has to say about the durability of honda.

    Pros:
    1) Honda's characteristic performance. Enough to handle daily city rides and weekend track sessions.
    2) The looks are signature style. The headlamp is a major attraction.
    3) A comfort you won't get in other bikes of the segment.
    4) The overall quality is on the positive side.

    Cons :
    1) Heat dissipation was found an issue! It gets heated quickly and the heat approaches rider's legs.
    2) The instrument cluster is not that easily readable. Also a gear indicator would have completed the job.
    3) A different paint job would have made CBR different from Hornett.

Summing up, overall It's a nice package to buy if someone's not looking for a really track oriented bike but a 50:50 as a sports commuter also.
Ride Hard. Be Safe. Always wear a helmet while riding.

PS- The test Ride was done at Nagpur's honda dealer, Tajshree Honda.

      Congratulation buddy

I thought Honda has discontinued the CBR250 from the Indian market.

Yeah CBR 150 R is similar to the sports bike (fairing) segment R15 but as the price is higher and poor sales ,Honda stopped selling 150cc CBR in India.

Though pricing is same as of R15 ,the Topspeed and acceleration are way back than R15 .

            R15 V2,V1 has 17.6 BHP
            CBR 150 got 18.35 BHP

**Still Honda loses with YAMAHA !!
#As of now Yamaha sells V1(17.6Hp) and V3 (19hp, slipper clutch) only.

            #pricing :

Though CBR 150 is not anymore but it wasn't much bad either but cost was higher slightly!!

On road prices of CBR150,YZF R15 are around Rs. 1,40,000/- prices may vary

So back then R15 was less than CBR150. Makes sense why CBR didn't sell much then.

R 15 v1 / v2 had 16.x bhp, the torque on cbr 150r was lesser, also peak power in cbr was produced in higher rpm, so honda loose in front of yamaha.
