I myself tried to loosen the clutch and succeeded in doing so. But, still my acceleration is very sluggish and I am suspecting that the clutch is not engaging completely. What could be done to rectify this?

Handle bar mod messed up
Guys, I recently replaced the handle bar of my Honda Dazzler to clip ons since I needed a sporty feel to my drive. Everything is perfect from the position and handling. It is really fun to drive it this way. But the problem is that, since the height of the handle bar is lowered, the clutch cable has become loose and the clutch operation itself has become tight. I lost speed and acceleration is very sluggish.

Since I don't have the time to take my bike there, I have asked for help here so that I can cure it myself. I will try my best to solve it by myself before the weekend. If I can't, then should do what you said.Originally posted by rakshit rana View Postjust go and get your bike checked from where you made this modification,i think he will surely make it out & get your bike serviced also....,i think this might help you

I guess you might need to install/shorten an appropriate sized cable....

Just as I thought. So is it possible to cut and shorten the throttle cable if I don't find an appropriate sized one?Originally posted by Devilpulsarian View PostI guess you might need to install/shorten an appropriate sized cable....

U can cut it and shorten the cable. But make sure you give enough play. Because if it's too tight then your bike will accelerate if u simply turn your handle bar. I think the best option would be to take it to a trusted mechanic and get it done. Whats more pleasurable than to spend some time with your bike. On the brighter side u can watch the mechanic closely on what he does. Maybe u could do it yourself someday...!Originally posted by Sirius View PostJust as I thought. Consulted the Castrol bike zone mechs today and they somehow adjusted the clutch. The bike revs a lot more freely. But still, when I put the bike on its center stand, start the bike, put on the gear and disengage the clutch, the rear wheel rotates. This should not happen rite?
What could still be the problem?

When you say the rear wheel rotates, How fast does it rotate? is it similar to the movement of the wheel when you accelerate in first gear or the rotation is very slow. If its the latter then there is no need to fret. All is well with your bike. But if its former then accelerator cable might be too tight you need to loosen it up a bit.

The rear wheel rotates in about 50 percent of its rotating speed when the clutch is engaged. It was not like this before. Hence the confusion and panic.Originally posted by zerotosixty View PostWhen you say the rear wheel rotates, How fast does it rotate? is it similar to the movement of the wheel when you accelerate in first gear or the rotation is very slow. If the rear wheel rotates even when the clutch is pressed, the clutch is not disengaged completely rite?Last edited by Sirius; 11-18-2010, 08:28 PM.
