  • Black Diamond Crash Guard For Thunderbird 500

I am surveying for a black crash guard for my yet-to-be-delivered TB500, which is not available in Bangalore.

Royal Enfield Zone [aka Chawla Auto Spares, Karol Bagh, Delhi] have this diamond crash bar in black, which suits the black theme of the new Thunderbirds. I heard that the diamond crash bar obstructs the new Thunderbird front foot-peg. But, Chawla Auto Spares have confirmed that it would fit perfectly and quoted a price of Rs 1850 including shipping to Bangalore. Anybody, who owns the new Thunderbird fitted the diamond crash bar, may please share their experience.

Not sure if this is the Diamond crash guard for the new Thunderbird 500. In the newer Thunderbird, the gear and brake front foot pegs have been moved forward and hence the front of your foot will hit the bottom bar of the diamond crash bar when operating the brake or gear. Encountered this problem during the test ride of Thunderbird 500 ( booked and waiting for it to arrive!). I have a normal 42 EUR shoe size and certainly not a bigfoot

swaroopM, you were spot on. I got the new Thunderbird delivered a couple of weeks back and was running pillar to post to find a crashguard in the market that didn't obstruct the braking. After a frustating search for a few days, I finally got a new one designed by Quality Industries, Chennai itself(the OEMs who supply crash guards and other accessories to various dealers of RE) and the design is good and has solved the problem. I've attached a picture of the crash guard I bought from them for you to check if it suits your taste.

That's a nice crash guard for TB. Thanks a lot for the information, maggyneo.

Just a few minutes back, I contacted Rizwan. He informed me that chromium-plated crash-guards are readily available for new RE Thunderbirds. When I enquired about powder-coated black crash-guard for my TB500, which is expected by this month-end, he said it could be custom-made and supplied and quoted Click image for larger version

Quality Crash-Guard For My RE Thunderbird 500

Today, my Thunderbird 500 got a newly designed crash-guard exclusively for new Thunderbirds costing 850 from Quality Metal Industries, Ellis Road, Chennai. It's chrome-plated. The black powder-coated one costs 750. But, I preferred the former. This crash-guard is good and a perfect-fit for my Thunderbird. It does not obstruct my foot-wear. Here are some photographs.

Quality Metal Industries are the manufacturers, who supply to accessories dealers located in many states. I still remember the shining Quality-branded front bumper of my Vijay Delux scooter in the late 1970s.
