  • complaint agains Yamaha dealer

    hi !!
i am varun from Chandigarh. i just want to ask all Yamaha owners that if they are allowed to stand and watch there bikes in workshop while service.
because here in Chandigarh there is only one service center and last time when i took my bike for servicing the charged me for chain lube but din't applied lube ( i noticed it while polishing). so this time i was standing beside my bike to see what they do !! but supervisor came n told me to go out n wait in room i asked i want to see the bike as its my bike and m not touching any other bike. he ordered to mechanic to stop servicing and take my bike out. i din't liked his behavior. how can he treat a customer like that ??(though they had to service my bike properly as i talked to the manager) now i want to complain to Yamaha directly as manager's action was not much satisfying.

is it possible to complain ?? through mail or something ?? and if yess than how ?
and do you guys too are not allowed to stand near you bike ?

    thanks in advance.

AFAIK customers are not allowed to stand in the servicing area anywhere. if you have good communication with the managers or the mech or know them personally then something can be worked out. would your teacher be cool if you stand beside her/him while correcting your exam paper imagine whole class doing that.

you can shoot a mail to yamaha. lets see what they say.

BTW if the SVC has arranged a area from where you can sit and also see your bike being serviced then its cool. but the managers are not supposed to be rude and oblige to your requests. better tell yamaha that they didnt do what you asked for instead of just telling that they didnt allow you to stand there.

That's the reason I don't take it to a SVC, they make me lose my temper very fast and few times I have scolded them as well for their behavior, I take it to my mechanic who is a friend of mine. . . Best you find or ask anyone from Chandigarh for a good well known local mechanic who is reliable. . . BTW I think you should raise a complaint as that kind of behavior is not encouraged. . .

it's the same story with every auThoRisEd service station of all the automobiles ,all they do is rob people. I 've been a victim of their robbery . They don't know how to do the work properly but they are expert in stupid behavior . To cut the long story short, try to find a good mechanic and get service done there .

I read this somewhere.. these are not Dealerships but Stealerships one way is to talk with a sense of humor when you give your bike in for service (not sounding like a school master) .. but if you are sure that all the work is not being carried out, please email or contact yamaha via their website. normally they do not allow you stand in the service bay but they have a customer 'lounge' from which you may be able to see 1 or 2 service bay's not all (so try if you can to have it serviced at the bay that's visible from the lounge)
Do not nag the mechanic, just be friendly (do not give them too much of your gyaan) and walk back n forth from the lounge to the bay every few minutes(instead of standing at the bay all the while)
Never go on a weekend.. fri/sat/sun/monday that's when its most crowded.. go there 1 day before late in the evening and tell them you will be there in the morning the next day. That way you can say 'bhai i spoke to you yesterday evening.. pls get my bike in first cos i stay far away so i will wait and take it back)

This happened to me as well. Apparently, I realized that it is not allowed in any SVC. But Pacer Yamaha in Bangalore has a special room from where you get a live show of what's happening through CCTV and thus, I was a bit satisfied. But the behavior is outright unacceptable & you should lodge a complain against it right-away.

All service center of all automobiles are same. Exception is maruti as they allow customer to see the servicing.

In my extreme i went to kharavela motors even though i bought from Rohan as Kharavela are friend of mine and thus i am allowed to the service floor and even i can help the mechanic or tell them what to do.

Add Honda cars to that. In 4 wheels Toyota just pampers the customers. Honda is next after that, and then is Maruti.

                    Re: complaint agains Yamaha dealer

Now that's bad, in Delhi when I had a yamaha they didn't have this behaviour. I knew exactly what is being done on my bike, while I stood there watching. Don't know what's the scenario now.
I had stopped going to the centre after one incident where the mechanic was using the filter out of my bike and placing it in someone else's. I lost faith in them since then. And after that I started servicing at home. I buy any required parts from the centre if required.
If I was in Chandigarh I wouldn't mind coaching you how to do it. My in laws are in Chandigarh so If your interested we can catch up some time for this task.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Telling about Honda cars and Toyota then let me add here try to get a spares from them over the counter sales. Then see if they give it or not. In cars only maruti gives over the counter spares and none.Yes, Toyota service is excellent but their spares is very expensive. My friends innova rear wheel bearing needed replacement and they quoted 3.3k for the rear wheel bearing and it was from FAG. Went to FAG dealer and got it for Rs.1800.

I think we were talking about quality of service. And for your information, there are more owners like me that prefer to go to Authorised Service Centre of Honda or Toyota instead of garages outside , because,

                          a. The quality of service is above par than any other manufacturer ex. Maruti, Skoda TATA
                          b. The mechs are competent enough to understand the issue and resolve it in the first instance
                          c. The spares for these cars last much longer, and they are not too expensive.

Hence majority of us do not care if it is available over the counter or not as long as they do a good job.
Toyota and Honda don't rank high for after sales service just like that. You have to experience the quality of service yourself to realise how good it is. I am talking from my own experience and not any of my friends.

Yes, I have owned Maruti before, they are very good considering the volumes they do. But in terms of giving "WoW" experience no one comes close to Toyota and Honda.

Now, can we get back to 2 wheelers, because it is futile to discuss QoS of 4 wheels here.

                            Re: complaint agains Yamaha dealer

I never allow my vehicles to get out of my sight in any svc. For the simple reason, in 3 separate company svcs me and my friends have been royally screwed. The 3 being hero honda, bajaj and tvs. The issues were resolved after a huge tussle between us and management.. So now I always make sure that I have some one on the inside before I take a bike for service..

Regarding cars; I have 2 new cars at my disposal; a maruti estillo and a honda brio. While availablity of spares is good with maruti, honda's service experience is unparalled. I roam in the honda svc all day while my car is being serviced and watch how other vehicles are being serviced and worked upon too. After the service the car always feels fresh and new. Maruti dosent ask anyone to get off the floor but their general behavior and quality of service leaves a lot to be desired.

I have been around mechs and garages for nearly a decade so I guess they see me talking their language and take a shine to me.

As far as this issue is concerned, I would suggest the thread starter to write a mail to the manager threatning him with leagal action based on civil and criminal liability of the svc and the svc manager. Cc a copy to yamaha too. That should sort it out.
