It's long I have came back on the site. I am facing few issues in my 220F. Few details on bike :
- 2011 model Pulsar 220-F
- 35,000 kms on odo
- Location - Vadodara, Gujarat
- Regular service only at Bajaj svc center ( Earlier AS Bajaj, now Shisha Bajaj)
The issues I will list them down:
1) The engine is cutting off sometimes in traffic. Even when it's in low speed and 2nd gear. Didn't happen before.
2) The vibrations from engine.
3) Roughness of gear. After servicing in a day or 2 the butter smoothness is gone.
4) The bike pickup and torque are not up to the mark. It accelerates slow and with pillion rider becomes more heavy.
5) Engine kill switch behavior is unpredictable. It won't kill engine. But when in off position engine won't start. This happened in rainy season. Nowadays it works all fine. Strange !!
6) I got my chain set replaced approx an year back. Since then when accelerating my chain makes noise. I got it taut few times, but it makes that noise when accelerating.
7) My battery connecter was corroded so I got a new one from Bajaj ASS, but that was causing some problems to battery so they had to cut the hook and wire it to battery directly. The strange this is it was genuine bajaj part and didn't work with the battery without modification.
Recently I went to Pavagadh and while returning the engine went dead. Giving lots of starters also didn't work. Local mechanic ( who was expert in nearby area ) checked and told that there is problem in relay, capacitor and one more component. The mechanic told to replace the relay with ACM relay as it's very reliable ( is it right ? )
Few weird things happened on the ride back. The speedometer went dead, then on the way it came to life but no speed indication only rpm, then before reaching home it came to life totally. Didn't understand what is the problem.
So I will get it checked it in next service. The engine oil I use if Bajaj 10000 which is supposed to be ok till 10000 kms. I doubt it now.
For low pickup the mechanic suggested to get the clutch plate checked ( was he right ? )
I have few questions :
1) Can engine roughness/vibrations be due to engine oil ? Which engine oil will be better than stock bajaj oil ? I hear Motul5100 15W50 is good oil. Please recommend.
2) My rear tyre got too many puctures now. After 35000 kms should I change the tyres ? Which are the good tyres for P220F? I read on some site MRF Vyde of soft compound are also good option. Please advice. How much the tyre set cost me ?
Anyone from Vadodara knows some good mechanic for Pulsar 220F?
Thanks in Advance
Ankur
