The problem is likely from your carburettor. I am not from Chennai hence can't help with local dealer. Check the Bajaj ASC near you. They should have it with them.

I am in a situation if I throttle a little high my CT 100 emits a black smoke. Mileage is 37 km/pl average but it used to give 65 km/ph or more when there was no black smoke issue. One mechanic says bike needs a bore work and costs around Rs 4000. Another Mechanic (known person) says black smoke means Carb needs a replacement. I am planning to go with Carb replacement. Do you know where I can find a good carb for Bajaj CT 100 in Chennai? Any suggestions. This is my first bike (bought in 2005) ran only 31k and i plan to keep it with me.

Does your bike emit black smoke when the throttle is high? If black smoke, then carb may need replacement. Are you a self help person? If so, get a can of WD40.

Fuel gauge issue :
Remove your seat, there is a connector for fuel gauge sensor. Unplug it, clean it, spray the brass electrode bit with WD40 and refit it. Check if fuel gauge starts working. If not, you will have to disassemble your headlight fairing area, identify the fuel gauge and speedometer connector, unplug it, clean it, spray it and refit it.

Fuel efficiency issue : Carburettor replacement is fastest option. A original Keihin carburettor should not cost you more than INR 1200.
Alternatively, if you are not sure where the problem lies, rule of thumb, white smoke - block piston replacement, black smoke - carburettor repair / replacement. For carburettor repair, you will need the jet holder kit, which isn't available anywhere. In case you wish yo try for the same and you want part nos., I can help you with that. fuel efficiency depends upon fuel supply & air supply. clean the carburettor throughout (dip it in acetone for a night) ,change the air filter .

unused bikes have this kind of problem due to clogged carburettor .

Hello,
I am a new user to this forum. I own Bajaj CT 100 for the last 12 years and it has only run 28k since I mainly used it to commute to office and also I was abroad for sometime so did not use my bike much. I returned to India 2 months ago and I was pretty disappointed to see my bike's performance. It just gives a mileage of 35 mpl and also the fuel gauge is not working. I am more worried about the mileage since I used to get a mileage around 70 mpl with the same bike before I went abroad. My mechanic did a mileage tuning couple of times but still the same 35 mpl. As far riding the bike, the one difference I noticed is the rev sound when I kick start the bike without giving any throttle and also the rev sound with bike moving for some distance while shifting the gears to stop. Even though the rev sound is stopped after my mechanic did something but the mileage continues to be an issue. its still the same 35k. My mechanic suggested to change the carburetor for mileage but I am not sure that will fix the mileage problem. There are other issues like fuel gauge not working and weak battery. Do I have an option of fixing these issues in a less budget? I do not want to continue spending much if it's really not worth it. Is this a time that I should consider buying a new bike instead of spending much on my current bike? Your answer will be much helpful. Thanks!

For smaller bikes like CT100, ideally do not go in for a rebore. Won't save much for you in the long run. [MENTION=81550]Ravikumar Pittala[/MENTION] don't know if this helps you though...

Change both, but ensure original Bajaj spares are used and not OEM products. Quality issues. When you open the block and valves, just check if valves appear okay, if so take a call if you want to re-use it. It won't reduce your costs significantly. You will recover these costs from fuel savings and not paying a PUC related fine.

ct100 bore faild / need suggestions

i have ct 100 2004 model 5 months (4500 km) back off bored for 3200/- in a rural area (bore cutted at lathe 0.75 size)
recently white smoke coming & need to clean spark plug (every 10 to 15 km) & low mileage careful drive it gives 53
local mechanic said bore failed . you have change cylinder block kit & valve kits , lapping he said total around 4000/-
is changing only cylinder block kit is solve problem or need replace all valve kits or other parts i,m confused....
is really need to change valve kits or cleaning is ok ... im not that much sound in technical ....
plz help me how solve my problem in little budget.... i already spend 3200 for that.. (if necessary i'll buy parts ).....

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try doing the same. It's been a good experience with the bike so far. You can easily move through any type of traffic.

Please post some pics of your bike.
Fuel gauge was there for the older models. But when they reintroduced they removed it.
The better way to keep track of fuel is remembering.
I usually fill petrol for 400 rs between 450 to 500KMs interval.

Hey, I bought the bike today. Ride quality and stability is good. I really regret because of the lack of fuel gauge. Any tips to read fuel?
And in the specifications over the internet it mentions there is a fuel gauge. But in the bike it isnt. Please help out

5000KM's Done

I have completed 5000KM's on my bike.



No major problems. Trouble free ride till now. Also a great average mileage of 85KMPL.


The chain adjusting nut was broken. I don't know how & when it happened. But when I gave for 2nd Service, I have replaced it.

Project CT100 restoration complete with this addition. The Bajaj sticker on the clutch cover. It was not available at all. Finally got it made.
