The Hill Climb Race - "Race to the clouds" - 2009 - Bangalore (Nandi Hills)
After 8 long years its finally happening here at Bangalore at Nandi Hills which is located nearly 65kms from the city. A national level event with all the famous and infamous tuners trying to prove their point.
The race is scheduled to be held on the 1st and 2nd of April.
Practise runs are slotted for the 31st of march, between 8am and 12pm for bikes and 1pm to 5pm for cars.
The motorcycles race will be held on 1st April and cars on 2nd April.
I see a lot of excitement amongst the bangalore crowd and this event sure has a lot of expectations.
I'm also taking part in the race in 2 classes. In the upto 165cc 4-stroke class on my modified RTR and in the upto 260cc 4-stroke on the Karizma.
All those who are interested in paying a visit on the race day are welcome.
The pics and results will be updated here on this thread as the race progresses.
Cheers,

All the best Joel
I won't be able to make it to the race as i have an extremely important presentation on the 1st
At what time will the race be held..? An approximate start time might help me make some last minute mad-dash plans...I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.

Reason as per the org'ers are the elections and also on weekdays traffic.Originally posted by shadez View Postwonder why its kept on a working day. would have been better if on the weekend.
They are blocking the entire road up to Nandhi Hills.
So spectators have to park the vech down and walk up about 3kms.

After all the drama and the heat...here's the good news before any one breaks it
In the upto 250cc 4-s class,
Joel was placed FIRST on his/kush's locomotive aka zma..
In the upto 165cc 4-s class,
Vikram was placed 3rd aboard the R15.
This was just the silver lining of the day(you guys have no idea what we had been through most of the day and I dont want to spoil this writeup by putting it down here).
BTW, here was the funniest part, there was only one guy on a hero puch in the MOPED class and he did some 00:02:02 and took home the trophy...lol (next time around will get my 75cc TVS XL
)
I saw all the factory bikes in flesh and I should say the factory RTR was bloody fast, and did a 00:01:30 only to take the first place in the 131-165 4-s class. The factory victor 125cc was in a class of its own literally.
There was a lot of RD's screaming uphill and the souped up SBKs (R6 (2), cbr 600, ninja 10r, gixxer 1k, aprilia 250, one ktm).
I rode in the 131-165c 4-s class, on my bone-stock R15 with no weight reductions and 12lts of fuel in the tank
and a clogged airfilter
only to finish the stretch by 00:01:48 . It was a gr8 experience for me, a first hill climb race ie.
and btw, the fastest R15 managed a 00:01:39
Once again Joel and Vikram, hearty congrats.. Forget all negatives that happened and enjoy the moment.
@Joel, a writeup in your eshtyle awaited..
@ all..The reason why it was on a weekday was to have minimum traffic hindering the event. And boy, the event would come to a halt every half an hour to let the traffic pass through. I wonder what was the time taken by those buses to reach point 'B' from 'A'
Vids and pics to follow suite..
