Shell's contest- Vote for the Ultimate Riding Wonder.

Shell Advance, the globally leading motorcycle lubricants brand and Ducati’s technical partner, has launched its new initiative to find the world’s ultimate Riding Wonder. Shell Advance ‘The Seven Riding Wonders of the World’ promotion is asking motorcycle enthusiasts from all corners of the globe to vote for their favourite road, track or riding experience.

From the historic Route 66 in the USA to the winding roads of the Coorg-Ooty-Munnar in Kerela, Shell Advance customers can vote for their own favourite route. Expert panelists from Ducati, Shell, DORNA and Sepang International Circuit will offer their opinions on the routes and will be on hand at the grand finale at the 2011 Shell Advance Malaysian MotoGP for the unveiling of the ultimate Riding Wonder. Amongst the global panel of judges are Mr. Nicky Hayden, Ducati MotoGP Team Rider and Mr. Aspi Bhathena, Executive Editor, Bike India magazine and accredited MOTO GP rider. One lucky winner will then win the opportunity to be ridden along a section of the ultimate Riding Wonder.

Elated Mr. Donald Anderson, Country Head – Lubricants, Shell India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We encourage bikers from all over the country to vote for their favourite Riding Wonder, whether it be Coorg- Ooty- Munnar route from India or a route they would one day love to visit. The prize day at the 2011 Shell Advance Malaysian MotoGP is a once in lifetime opportunity that gives us the chance to show our customers how Shell Advance’s technical partnership with Ducati comes to life on the track.”

Tanmay Jaswal, Shell Advance Global Marketing Manager: “The launch of this promotion gives us the opportunity to engage with motorcyclists around the world. It brings together our longstanding technical partnership with Ducati Corse and recently signed title sponsorship of the 2011 Shell Advance Malaysian MotoGP to bring a real, golden opportunity to our customers. There are 22 routes from 19 countries that will test the responsiveness of any bike and we look forward to the outcome of the vote and panelist discussions to find the ultimate Riding Wonder of the World.”

To vote for Coorg- Ooty- Munnar route as one the 7 Riding Wonders of the World SMS ‘Shell Advance Ooty’ to 58888 or log on to www.shell.com/india .

To participate in the Shell Advance contest purchase Shell Advance AX5 or AX7 and scratch the pack to win assured prizes and a mega prize of trip to Malaysiam Moto GP.

The contest is on till 31st of August, 2011.

To reach closer to its customers, Shell Lubricants is running a marketing campaign including on-ground activation programs in bike clusters in India. The company has simultaneous trade offers for dealers & franchisees.

Shell has a real heritage in motorcycle racing. The ‘7 Riding Wonders of the World’ promotion is only possible through the close technical relationship that Shell Advance and Ducati share. The 2011 season sees the Shell- powered Ducati ridden by two former world champions, Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden.

    About panelists:

    1) Mr. Nicky Hayden, USA (Ducati) Ducati MotoGP Team Rider

    2) Mr. Aspi Bhatena, India:
A racing career spanning over 25 years saw Aspi build, prepare and tune his own racing motorcycle, competing internationally in countries like Japan, Australia and the UK. One of only two Indians to have raced (twice) at the Isle of Man TT races – picking up a bronze replica in his first attempt – he’s inspired a new generation of racers. Aspi is now one of India’s most experienced road test editors.

    3) Mr. Gao Liang, China:
For 25 year old Gao Liang, riding bikes has been a lifelong obsession. With a particular interest in bike travelling and professional long-haul riding, he’s clocked up over 20,000
kilometres travelling from Beijing to Xin Jiang (2006), Cheng Du to Tibet (2008) and Beijing to XinJiang Ka Shi (2009). Seinna is a registered Harly Davidson Engineer and was Chief Technician for the Honza Forza Modification campaign.

    4) Mr. Agustus S. Nugroho, Indonesia:
Augustus Sani Nugroho is widely known as one of the most prominent opinion leaders in the Indonesian bikers community, through his blog and involvement in campaigns like Shell Advance’s Safety Riding programme. Despite a busy day job as business manager for a premium brand, he still makes time for track riding his Ducati Superbike and touring on his Ducati Multistrada round South East Asia. Total mileage record: 36,000km.

    5) Mr. Michale Knaak, Shell (Germany):
Michael is project manager for Shell's technical partnership with Ducati. He is primarily responsible for the innovation and development of Shell Advance racing lubricant for Ducati
Corse, in close co-operation with the Ducati engineers. He also ensures the timely delivery of Shell Advance racing oil and Shell V-Power racing fuel to all 18 rounds of the MotoGP championship. Despite the travel, his heart will always belong to the great circuits of his native Germany, especially the forested scenery of Nordschleife of the Nrburgring.

I have cast my vote, in hope of India holding the title of having the "Ultimate Riding Wonder" within her. We should all vote, but again, if you really have ridden on any other route in contention, and you are sure it is better, vote for it.
I have sent my sms for Ooty and my vote is registered.
