    News Approved
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

^^ well details are at best sketchy on this deal. When Bajaj-KTM tie-up was announced, it was informed straightaway that a 125-200cc platform is being developed. But here BMW only works on bigger bikes, even if it's about technology transfer, don't see much scope there as well, coz TVS has bikes in the market that are below 200cc. Unless some more details come out, it's not really evident as to how the deal is going to benefit BMW & TVS.

I think this deal is mainly or wholly for the Husqvarna brand of BMW. Considering the fact 125, 200, 250 cc bikes will be mass selling and if the joint venture is able to make those bikes under the Husqvarna brand, you must remember profits come from low cc high sales volume brands. Besides, all these manufacturers know unlike India, if they put up their plants in China, the very next day there will be 10 duplicate brands hitting the roads with names starting from Hoosqurna or Verna Chopsee etc

One more Indian company getting along with the big boys not just as a joint venture but with a technical tie up for a win-win situation is a very good thing.

Maybe after 5-6 years we can expect to see a Nuda 200/Nuda 350 in India which is Made in India..!!

Well it seems with so many tie ups and R&D, tech transfer 2013 can be the year of 350cc bikes.

Ditto on Haroon's note on the Huskie angle. Huskies today are a pale shade of they were earlier when offroad= Huskieland. So, a Husqvarna reskinned as a TVS street-legal 250 will be India's option for a BMW Adventure, I guess. Price it well, TVS-Huskie, and you will have the streets lined with suitors shooting each other to get one, to paraphrase Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady

The responses will be pure speculation at best. Btw,it will take it's own sweet time for the deal to materailise into something which we can buy out of showrooms, and as of now, it's kind of useless to speak about it
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

Do not want to discredit TVS but are they really looking for technology? They split from Suzuki, go alone for many years and now are they finding themselves devoid of technology? They do have water cooled engines, race track bikes and stepthroughs, scooters and all.

Somehow i doubt if they are really looking for the technology. I think there is lot more to the story than what has been disclosed. Is there a possisbility that BMW wants to invest / takeover TVS to gain access to the future asian markets where lower CC vehicles rule the roost?

According to me TVS really deserves a good market share in India.. there has never been a strike in TVS in its long past which is a record in itself...

As of the tie up with BMW... tvs would save lots of costs in R & D while BMW has got a partner that's actually established in Indian market and really knows the roots of this country

After seeing the KTM Duke TVS would surely be thinking about launching some high end as well as touring bikes and get out of the Victor/Apache mode

Its high time they give a real compititor to Pulser and Discover as well as gain some High end market that's eagerly waiting for them...
