    The Yellow Continental GT

The new Continental GT from Royal Enfield is the lightest, fastest and also the most powerful bike ever produced by the Chennai based company. RE have come up with a blast from the past with the Cafe Racer. The retro looking Cafe Racer will be a hit with the middle aged motorcyclist who is looking for a bike which reminds him/ her of their childhood dream bike.

RE is aggressively targeting the Middle Range Capacity of motorcycles and has absolute plans of launching different plans along the lines of the Continental GT. Royal Enfield introduces its philosophy of bringing back uncomplicated, approachable, hands-on-pure motorcycling experience with the all-new Continental GT that brings the core idea of cafe racing from the 1960s roaring to India.

The Continental GT has been completely redesigned with only the UCI engine being carried forward from the previous models, the rest of the bike is brand new and like no previous GT model. The bike is a highly responsive and nimble motorcycle with a lot of useable power and torque. The bike is available in the signature GT Red and a brand new shade of GT Yellow, the bike will retail for Rs. 2, 05,026 lakhs, on-road in Delhi and for Rs. 2, 14, 043 lakhs on-road in Mumbai.

The Continental GT is inspired by the cafe racers of the 1960s in its form and simplicity. It has been designed ground up, incorporating both traditional craftsmanship and relevant modern techniques at the new plant in Oragadam to deliver a deeply engaging motorcycling experience that is unlike any other.

At the heart of the Continental GT is the tried-and-tested single-cylinder air-cooled Unit Construction Engine (UCE) which has been upgraded to 535cc with a re-mapped ECU and lower inertia to deliver that extra punch and responsiveness. This translates into a slightly more responsive and rev happy engine, which does not vibrate as much as the original mill.

The chassis of the Continental GT has been developed by Harris Performance, a UK based Chassis designer. This is the fundamental change in this RE, which gives the bike a whole different character. The bike handles like a charm and can be thrown around in the corners like a rag doll, where one could not even imagine doing that on an RE with its conventional chassis. The chassis is a double cradle frame, with 41mm front forks and Paioli rear suspension to give it the perfect fit to ride hard. The chassis is backed up by the very capable Brembo brakes, which are extremely progressive and inspire confidence in the rider. The rear brakes, though discs are not the best one could have hoped for. The package is made complete with Pirelli Sport Demon tyres, which are sticky enough to give oodles of confidence.

Cafe racers of the 1960s and Royal Enfield own 1965 Continental GT - the first mass produced cafe racer of its time - in particular were the main design inspiration for this motorcycle. It has a stretched out low-profile fuel tank with knee recesses for the authentic period cafe racer look. Style meets functionality when genuine clip-on bars conspire with the flat sculpted racing seat with contrast stitching and bump stop along with rearset foldable footrests to urge the rider to tuck his elbows in neatly and get into a sporty yet ergonomic position for spirited riding. Trimmed front and rear mudguards add to the clean lines of the Continental GT and an upswept exhaust allow more ground clearance when cornering at speed. Royal Enfield worked closely with Xenophya Design of UK to get the overall look and proportions just right and to ensure that each detail on this motorcycle is well crafted so that it will become a modern classic in its own right. Thus getting the ergonomics spot on.

Complementing the Continental GT is a range of- Burn-up Wear production capacity has been increased to 175,000 motorcycles for 2013 and 250,000 motorcycles in 2014Click image for larger version

Well priced...much below the expectations of auto websites and magazines....
I saw a continental gt parked in front of my office. It looks very sexy and hot. It can drive anyone crazy with just the way it looks. Tt was parked alongside cbr 250, trust me guys cbr was looking very dull in comparison. may be it was brand new and thats why it was shining like mirror in sunlight. Overall it is the best and unique looking motorcycle on sale in India at present....

Wow...2.05 L On road is a killer Price tag !

Have seen it in flesh while they were on countrywide ride, Certainly It's the best looking RE yet. From reviews and first ride reports handling and build quality also seems to have improved.

            Kudos to RE....

Very nice move by Royal Enfield. I am glad I am feeling happy for an RE launch, something I thought wouldn't happen for sometime!

GT sure does look cool in pics, I must check it out soon. And the coolest part for me are the color options - Red and .... Yellow! wowww

If I got hit on the head really hard and then I suddenly wanted to buy a cruiser. I would pick this over the Harley 500 stupid thing, no doubt.

2.05 lakhs is a seriosusly stupid price tag for this bike

u can get a ktm 390 for less than that
