    Firefox Bikes Announces Bike Insurance Cover For Buyers

    With an aim to provide a sense of security to the riders for their premium bikes, Firefox Bikes has announced its tie-up with Toyota Tsuho Insurance Broker (India) Pvt. Ltd. through Future Generali Insurance, a leading insurance company for extending insurance cover for its high-end bikes.

    With more and more people taking to cycling, the buyers need to have bicycle insurance to ensure peace of mind for their high-end bicycles.

    We have insured more than 1000 bikes till now
    Now-a-days high end bicycles, costing upward Rs. 10,000 are vulnerable to theft. With the innovative insurance scheme by Firefox which covers total loss of bicycle due to theft, accidental damage and burglary, Firefox customers can have peace of mind that their expensive cycles will be safe.

    The insurance cover also includes third party legal liability cover of Rs 50,000, claim of Rs 1 lakh against personal accident for owner. The duration of insurance policy is for 3 years for single one time premium of the cost of bike and easy settlement of claims.

    thats a good news, my friend goes cycling daily morning on his TREK 3700 and carries it upstairs to 2nd floor and park in his bedroom, he he. but premium = cost of bike, did i read that correct, is it not too high premium. but in case of claim, how will they identify the cycle, i mean a cycle does not carry any identification numbers like engine number, chasis number or registration number?

      My hero DTB had a serial number upon the handle joint.

        Every high end bike has a serial number on the frame, similar to a chassis number on a motorcycle. That is how it is identified and that is also how people have recovered stolen cycles, since these high end bikes cannot be serviced by road side cycle wallahs, the service centre checks the number and if marked as stolen notifies the company.

            Every cycle I've ever seen has a frame number, mostly it is on the joint below the saddle or near the steering.

              Or you can find it under the Bottom Bracket (near to crank).

              In the NL im paying 20E/Year approx 1600INR for bike theft insurance.
              I still have to pay for the other parts! (In accidentel damage of My MTB I always have to replace parts)

              Im really curious of how this is going to work!

                It will be good to have some accident insurance for cyclists too. These hi-end cyclists tend to ride longer and mix with city traffic leading to possible accidents. I ride a bicycle (not hi-end ones) for local commuting within 3km radius. Almost on a daily basis, cars and SUVs tend to take cyclists for granted. Even pedestrians step in front of a cycle for crossing the road leading to some crazy moments. I ve oozed more adrenalin on my cycle than on my moto and car combined.

                  Of everything, the best news would be a drop in price of cycles, but I don't have any hope of something like that happening!
                  AFAIK all cycles have a serial number on their frame.

                    That is really amazing and unique to hear such news. I agree that expensive bikes needs to be covered. I wonder if my insurance company Liberty Videocon has anything as such since I am also planning to purchase one of those expensive ones for me soon. Since riding on my two wheeler all the time made me big and bulgy - I need some workout now on these bikes!
