    Hero MotoCorp always had popular Indian stars from the fields of sports and cinema as its brand ambassadors, this is the first time the company has signed up a top global sporting icon, a move that fits well with the company's global expansion plans.

    This is the first time Hero Moto has signed a global sports icon to endorse its brand.

    Pawan Munjal, vice chairman of Hero Moto -

    he also said

    "We have lined up exciting campaigns to build on the core values of Hero in our global markets and Tiger is going to play an integral role in these initiatives. Our campaign with him will be on multiple platforms - print, electronic, digital, social and outdoor."
    Earlier this year in mid-September, Hero also announced a separate four-year deal with the Tiger Woods Foundation to become the title sponsor of the Hero World Challenge, a PGA Tour event. This year's event starts on Thursday at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Florida, with 18 top golfers competing in the $3.5 million event.

    The golfing champ Tiger Woods has won 14 major Golf champion ship.

        Why Tiger wood, I mean, Accenture removed the posters on their company premises after the scandal he was in. Now Hero has signed him has global ambassador. No offense to TW fans, But didn't they find any other person. I would have signed Colin Edwards

          Pulling Tiger Woods on board to represent Hero seems strange. Post the scandal there have been few takers for TW.

          The only major business profit that Hero seem to gain from this is by Sponsoring the Golf Tournament for publicity. They will get visibility through the event and will gain goodwill as a company supporting international sports. The benefit brought by Tiger Woods endorsements will be an added bonus. With Hero willing to sponsor his event, he would have obviously said yes!

              Soooo cunning.....really a calculated move . Hero's main future markets are latin america (40 % black ) and Africa (95 % black ) hence they got there black guy for as much as 200 crores
              Let's be practical , americans and Europeans aint gonna buy bikes especially hero , they prefer the likes of ninja , ktm , honda .

                I dont think people would buy hero bikes because of Tiger Woods.If the product is good it will sell
                Its more of a show off spending 200 crores.

                    It may make people take note of Hero as a brand, at least internationally, especially US. Good move I would say, lets wait if it has the desired effect. Say does this mean they have some products in their portfolio in-line with this marketing strategy for western markets?

                          Actually a good point (a little racist though )

                          An outsider company trying to build brand awareness in USA through a local sports celebrety as brand ambassador.... Hmmm... same Indian advertisment funda applied in USA. Though the amount is still huge if they are paying one single individual rumoured 100+ crores. Not that Hero is desperate but it is much capable of throwing that much money around with ROI in plan.

                            Wood or no Woods - Hero need to make the standard of products high. So that those can compete globally.
