Suzuki launches two ATVs, Ozark 250 & Quadsport 400, in India
Suzuki India, in a surprise move, launched two ATV models in the Indian market today. The two ATVs that are launched today are Ozark 250 and Quadsport Z400. Suzuki had invented four-wheeled ATVs in 1983 and the high performance ATV in 198 and with the launch of two of its international models in India, Suzuki intends to cater to the Indian enthusiasts.

Re: Suzuki launches two ATVs, Ozark 250 & Quadsport 400, in India
Because they're imported and attract exorbitant duty?Originally posted by tanay View PostAnyone knows why these ATVs are priced like they are built from solid gold? And not just Suzuki, all of them - Polaris etc.
See, they take more material than a typical motorcycle, so their base price goes up. We're already paying as per the Euro standards for most imported bikes, which is a high income high expenditure economy, than India is. Even a Karizma ZMR if made in Europe will cost north of Rs. 2.5 Lacs or so there itself..
Another reason could be a limited market, hence requirement for a higher profit margin at each marketing level, thus raising costs.
EDIT: PS: You could choose Avinga for a decent cheaper ATV: http://www.rushlane.com/avigna-motor...-12159560.htmlLast edited by Samarth 619; 12-08-2015, 02:52 AM.---

So the Ozark 250 costs ~3800 pounds in the UK while the Inazuma costs 3700 pounds. Even accounting for CKD vs CBU I suspect large profit margins which may be due to the limited market driving up per unit costs.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostBecause they're imported and attract exorbitant duty?

There is one silver lining that I see - with companies getting crazy/optimistic enough to slowly start bringing in their entire range (nevermind the insane prices), the day is not too far off when we Indians will have access to the entire range of atvs/bikes/whatevers. They may not be cheap but the people who want them will find a way.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER
