Default Marc Marquez breaks merchandising contract with Valentino Rossis company

The quarrel between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez has resulted in the termination of MM93 merchandising contract with VR46 Racing, the clothing company owned by Valentino Rossi to supply Marquez merchandising for the 2016 season.

The spanish rider has signed a multi-year agreement to have his merchandise supplied by Gruppo Pritelli. The company supplies merchandising for Jorge Lorenzo as well as many other MotoGP riders including Andrea Iannone, Andrea Dovizioso and Aleix Expargaro.

It is unclear whether this affects Marquez's younger brother Alex, who also has an agreement with VR46.

The split between Marquez and VR46 follows the bitter on-track dispute between Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi at the end of last year.

Marquez' management and VR46 are currently in negotiations to terminate the contract, with the VR46 company wanting financial compensation for Marquez' decision to terminate the contract prematurely.

I think VR's company is right in expecting monetary compensation.

Racing is ok, but in normal business, your personal feelings shouldn't matter with business affairs. Creating news like this only proves the kiddish nature of a person or group.

The best way would've been to let the contract expire, and then consider a change. For example, Aamir Khan was handled roughly for his tweet on intolerance, but he wasn't removed from his position as Brand Ambassador of Incredible India. Only his contract was made to expire with time.
No controversies or enemity or severed ties this way.
Because, someday years later, if Aamir makes a big sacrifice or contribution, and gains public support, the tables will be turned... Then, it would be a wiser business decision to use Aamir again, (if) he agrees for free or lesser money.

A Mature person would consider that its better to be diplomatic for an unlikely rainy day, rather than to cut ties with a bang.

Well, the most friendly enemies in the business world are still Apple and Samsung. They're at war all the time, still Apple uses components from Samsung and Samsung supplies them high quality stuff. Business as usual, and legal wars as usual.
    Be like Apple and Samsung.

Wasn't it in the news that VR was thinking of terminating MM's merchandize contract as early as last year? But yeah, it is childish either way.

yeah I agree, that was the genesis. It became personal for Marquez then I think but for Rossi it became personal at Philip island. Even at Assen I think Rossi was well within the limits of professional rivalry.
