    Tork Motorcycles launches the T6X for Pune, Bengaluru and New Delhi at Rs. 1.25 lacs.

    Tork Motorcycles, a electric bike maker start up has raised angel funding from Bhavish Agarwal and Ankit Bhati, Ola founders and few other angel funders as well.

    Founded by Kapil Shelke, a mechanical engineer with a passion for racing, Tork Motorcycles has tested its battery and powertrain systems in motorsports. They have also tested their machines in the Isle of Man TT and TTX-GP series, including a podium finish.

    Kapil Shelke said,
    "We are building India's first electric motorcycle and are targeting its launch this year. The motorcycle will solve the rider's pain points with several value-added features like GPS, storage, cloud connectivity and phone charging, making it also a first smart motorcycle in India."

    I first heard of TORK Motorcycles a while ago from PD. It was awesome that indigenous folks have the zeal, passion, capability and encouragement to do what they are doing.

                      That is some improvement in the electric two wheelers in India . Already news going on about a smart scooter(Ather Energy S340) and now a smart motorcycle.

                      But sad part is we who more used to gasoline motorcycle/scooter will say that electric bike is not practical considering its range/price.

                      I own a e-bike from hero motocorp, its range is very low(35-50 Kms real life range per charge) compared to its fossil fueled counterpart. When the range is increased the cost also goes up and there goes the sales numbers .

                      But am keeping an eye on battery technology improvement with less cost which will help electric vehicles in general to grow up and put a good fight against the fossil fueled vehicles.

                      P.S.-Am happy with my e-bike considering its usage and cheep running costs .

                        As battery technology improves, the day is not far when we will be riding insanely fast bikes with enough range too. But, it will still not be as fun as say, shifting gears on a Petrol & I.C.E. based motorcycle.


                        But maybe it is the future. Because a petrol engine has lesser substitute sources of energy, while electricity can be made by sun, water, coal, etc...
