The WSS race winner will use a special race suit that will reduce the drag while providing uncompromised protection during the record attempt. Pirelli has given specially-formulated compound for the tires that will be used during the run. Elf is providing race-grade fuel that should help the H2R engine produce more power and a higher top speed.

Here's the 400 kph run. One word awesome. Although suerbikes were known for acceleration but lagged behind in top speed compared to super cars.

This is a production bike breaking most supercars speed record.

Blazingly fast, I wonder if he could even clearly see the road at those speeds. But curiously he lets go immediately as the speedo hits 400, why not little more..

Re: Kenan Sofuoglu to attempt 400kmph with Kawasaki Ninja H2R Today

Though the record itself is amazing. I cannot even begin to wrap my head around the feeling of 400kmph on two wheels. It is just incredible! But there are two things which stand out for me as much as the top speed itself.

            1. This is the guy who is currently leading the WSS Championship, and taking such a big risk in the middle of the racing season, just shows the kind of madness that these racers have.

            2. I do not know if the Turkish PM finally attended the record breaking event, considering it was at 5AM. But the fact that it was an event to inaugurate the bridge and had the backing of the establishment itself is fantastic. Motorsport isn't very big in Turkey, yet the Prime Minister of the country gives it importance. And this is a few days after a terrible attack on an important airport of the country.

A salute to Sofuoglu and the people who made this possible.

            WorldSBK

I remember meeting him at the Buddh Circuit in India and it was such a pleasure. There was ZERO show of being the then reigning world champion, he was as chilled out as if he were just another bloke.

He might be a madman on the racetrack, but off it he was a perfect gentleman.

Its a demonstration of pinnacle of engineering and utmost discipline of a rider.
He stopped at 400 to show the data logger stopped at 400. The magic number.
But the most important thing is the acceleration.

                  0-400 in 26 secs.

That is the speedo indicated 400kmph isn't it? Assuming a 10% speedo error that would mean the actual speed would be around 360kph.
On the other hand these Japanese guys attempted to hit 400kmph too but their GPS speeds were only good for about 352.99 kph that too with the banking to help.

I believe the fastest a man has ever been on a motorcycle was something around 503 kmph on a modified Hayabusa. But doing so on a production (although non road legal) motorcycle is an amazing thing altogether!

I think Kawasaki must have taken care of the speedo errors... But still even if they did a real 370 kmph, its not bad by any means.

Remember Einstein's formula regarding energy required? Energy = Mass x Speed-square? It only shows that speed gains are often minimum, and even to get a small gain in speed, a massively more amount of energy is required.
Every 3 kmph increased is an achievement anyhow!
