  • Honda CBR250RR not launching in India

It seems that the recent news about the Honda CBR250RR not being launched in India has sent some people into a frenzy. Announced by Mr Yadvinder Guleria, Senior VP HMSI, the news is spreading like a wave of disappointment among motorcycle enthusiasts in the country. Honda recently unveiled the all-new parallel twin CBR250RR in Indonesia.

While many are reporting with a broken heart that India will continue to see the current single-cylinder CBR250R for some more time to come, this particular news actually has a positive side to it.

Why Could We Be Correct In Assuming So?
It is natural that Honda wants to beat Kawasaki and Yamaha in the ever growing Quarter Litre segment. While their CBR250RR can take care of its 250cc counterparts in Indonesia, Honda will need the slightly bigger capacity engine to take on the Ninja 300 and YZF-R3 everywhere else. So, it is not unlikely that Honda has a more powerful version of the CBR250RR in line for other major markets.

What we need to do right now is wait and watch. But we at xBhp believe that India will get the better deal from Honda!

Re: Honda CBR250RR not launching in India

CBR250RR or CBR300R won't be hitting Indian markets at all. This news was confirmed by YS Guleria, senior VP, HMSI during the inauguration of Honda’s 100th best deal outlet in Mumbai. The main reason not to launch the CBR250RR in India is due to Honda’s focus on expanding its presence in the mass market segment – scooters and motorcycles. And part of this plan is to upgrade its entire range to meet BS-IV emission norms. The Hornet 160R was the first Honda bike to be equipped with the BS-IV engine late last year.
As part of Honda’s plan, it will update 14 products to meet this emission norm that’ll come in effect on April 1, 2017. So in short, launching bikes in the premium category like the CBR250RR or the CBR300R is not Honda’s priority as it doesn’t get them volumes. The Japanese manufacturer believes that instead of putting effort on introducing such bikes in the Indian market, it would rather use the same effort and time in launching a product that will get them volumes.
So if you’re one of those who are looking for some action in Honda’s quarter-litre segment, well, expect more paint schemes and decals on the slow selling CBR250R, and nothing more.

The news says CBR250RR, CBR300R will not come to India.
CBR250RR - is the parallel twin model.
CBR300R - is the updated version of single cylinder CBR250R.
That makes me believe there is still hope for CBR300RR or CBR350RR Just speculating.

Yamaha R15 V2(LE white) 2012 and Honda Dio V2 Matte

This is like asking Mr.Bajaj if he will sell the RC250 in India. The obvious answer is no. The bikes are designed for certain markets, while their other displacement variants are sold to the rest of the world.
AFAIK the 250RR isn't even announced for Europe or North America either, doesn't mean Honda will let the other two 300 twins eat into their sales pie charts.
So wait to see if there's a worldwide model, a 300+RR if you will.

Good. Didn't look forward to, will not be missed and it wouldn't have made any sense.

They said that AFTER applying for the design patent apparently according to Rushlane. I suspect the patent is to keep Chinese Clones like that of Eider ZF KYMCO 250(CBR250R clone) away from India for a while.

Launched in Indonesia, the all-new Honda CBR250RR is also heading to India? Well there is a chance as the bike has been patented in India.

Perfect time to launch a quarter litre in India - CBR 250r non existent after bsiv came into effect(i think), Honda planning for new launches, No need to bother about a bored out/ stroked out 300 if launching in India, will be one VFM twin IF made in India, even the benellis are showing some growth in the market!
