  • ICICI Lombard launches mobile self inspection feature for lapsed motor policy renewa

Traditionally, when a motor insurance policy expires, a mandatory inspection is required which results in delay in policy issuance. Usually, when a customer applies for renewal for a lapsed policy, the insurer initiates a process called Break-In. In this process, a survey by authorized surveyors is carried out and the policy is issued based on satisfactory inspection.

With this new feature, customers can renew their policy without a physical inspection required by a surveyor. All that a customer has to do is renew the policy by paying online on ICICI Lombard's website www.icicilombard.com

Excellent initiative in my opinion. Saves, time, the plight of standing in queues and what not. Overall peace of mind. But how well this works remains to be seen, slowly yet steadily.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Yes it is a good initiative, saves costs on both parties. People initially might feel odd paying the premium before submitting the video to ICICI for estimation. Appropriate adjustments (plus/minus) would be made later after the company checks your video.
