Re: Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 200
News Approved.
Since the Karizma series ends up being discontinued, we're now looking at the new flagship from Hero Motocorp, as strange it may sound...
Here are the important details:-
1. The Hero Xtreme 200R started was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
2. The Hero Xtreme 200R has a diamond chassis, the step-up single-seat lends a split-seat look on the 200R,
3. The Hero Xtreme 200R gets LED pilot lights, LED taillight, but no LED's for indicators though. A beautiful Hero touch is the spark plug cap itself, which stands out in red color.
4. The instrument cluster on the Hero Xtreme 200R is an analog-digital unit, with a digital display on the right with a blue backlight. The tell tale indicators including the ABS, Neutral, battery and other located over the LCD display.
5. Ergonomically, Hero has designed the Xtreme 200R to offer a comfortable riding position. The bike gets a tall handlebar for an upright riding position while there are knee grips around the fuel tank. The slim seat has been contoured for a comfortable ride.
6. (The Hero Xtreme 200R uses an upgraded version of the Achiever 150)
6. Power on the Hero Xtreme 200R comes from the new 199.6 cc, air-cooled, carburetted engine. The single-cylinder unit has been tuned to produce 18 bhp at 8000 rpm and 17 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. The motor is paired to a 5-speed gearbox and gets new balancer shafts to reduce vibrations, while torque has been targeted at the lower end of the power band. The new power mill is an upgraded version of the Achiever 150 and Hero claims the model can return a fuel efficiency of nearly 40 kmpl. The bike maker says it has also worked on the exhaust note by reducing the intake noise.
7. Suspension duties on the Xtreme 200R include 37 mm telescopic forks up front, while the rear sports an 8-speed adjustable monoshock setup.
8. The street-fighter uses a 276 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc brake setup for controlled stopping and the bike also comes with front Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) as optional.
9. The Hero Xtreme 200R will be locking horns with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. The model will also lock horns with the Suzuki Gixxer that is sold at a similar price.
10. Hero MotoCorp has said that it will be announcing prices in April this year. Prices are expected to be in the vicinity of ₹ 80,000-85,000 (ex-showroom), which undercuts the competition by a decent margin.
11. In terms of further launches, the 250cc project has been shelved in the light of market changes. The 300cc engine might just be seen in one of the upcoming Hero products. A certain bigger engined implementation of the Impulse may also touch the roads.

Re: Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 200R unveiled
Strange bike. Looks are subjective but it surely looks strange to me. With this low power and torque, the mileage comparatively low. FZ25 claims 42 kmpl and returns around 35-38 kmpl as per members of ownership group. I fail to understand the target of Xtreme and also fail to understand what is so extreme in this bike.
Why didn't they use new Karizma engine? Is it overbored engine if Achiever? We all know what happened to overbored engines of Hornets. The initial batches were very vibey and used to rattle. Not sure about the present condition though. Will this Xtreme have same problem?

Re: Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 200R unveiled
Not good looking enough.
To a common man would look like a slightly bigger version of Splendor NXG.
The 10 year old design of Pulsar 150 still looks better and sportier than this, but of course, looks are subjective.
I think it will have serious identity crisis. It is not good looking, powerful and sporty enough for enthusiasts who buy a 200 cc bike. And the engine is too big and low on fuel mileage for an average commuter (who is usually more than satisfied with the performance of a 150cc engine). I struggle to find a segment of people who would want to buy this. Its neither here nor there, an odd kid on the block really who doesn't fit anywhere.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 200R unveiled
To me it just looks like restickered version of Xtreme 150 with some extra plastics. Again a misfire from Hero MotoCorp.Apache RTR 180 (The Valentine) 2012 - 2016

Re: Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 200R unveiled
I think this bike is aimed at daily office goers who are of age above 35 years, they want to cruise at higher speed but with comfort. As with any other hero bike the suspension will be soft & comfortable but claimed top speed seems low for a 18.5 bhp bike.Don't Honk Unnecessarily

Let us wait for the owners to reveal what mileage they get. A manufacturer's estimate is just that, an "estimate".Originally posted by chidafn View PostStrange bike. KTM claimed around 30 kmpl for Duke 200, but if I remember, owners are constantly getting higher than this, isn't it?
Yes, apparently its a rebored Achiever. From 57.3mm x 57.8mm, almost square engine of Achiever 150, it goes up to 66mm x 57.8mm, so we're looking at about 9mm Bore increase, making it a short stroke...
What I'm intriuged by, is the power-torque graph given by Hero.. Graphically speaking, it appears like a low end torque monster in making... Of course, its quite possible that its just a representative graph, not accurate..
Yes, you're right about vibes. Let this bike launch, then we'll see.
Maybe the crankshaft got a balancer, who knows?

@ Others Guys, Your thoughts are right... But, its the Hero Motorcorp's flagship product, at least for now.

Great analysis sir ji. I am not sure but I read somewhere that balancer shaft was used in this engine. I guess it was in motobeam video.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostLet us wait for the owners to reveal what mileage they get. A manufacturer's estimate is just that, an "estimate".

They really had good amount of time to develope a good competitive bike. They could take cue from vibes if hornet and shortcomings of NS200 and Apache 200 4V. But I don't know what was in the mind for management to go for such design and engine.

Re: Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 200R unveiled
They had the opportunity to improvize the Karizma engine - but maybe Hero has thought otherwise. But personally, I'm finding it difficult to acknowledge something like this(specially the design) as the 'flagship' of a company which sells the highest number of two wheelers in this part of the Galaxy!A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 200R unveiled
I think Hero did something similar to what Yamaha did with FZ 25/ Fazer 25 with the Extreme 200.
Even though FZ 25 / Fazer 25 being quarter liter bikes, they are under powered on paper as compared to rival quarter liter bikes but to do also cost less. Someone on the FZ 25 ownership thread said that these bikes should be considered as 200cc bikes with extra 50cc for stress free ride.
Similarly Extreme 200 can be considered as a 180cc bike with extra 20cc for stress free ride, if Hero gets the pricing right like Yamaha.
