Ducati India has announced the launch of the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak edition. The launch was announced shortly after they introduced the Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S in India. The Multistrada is not known just for its adventure touring capabilities but for its sporty character as well. And the Pikes Peak edition takes that character to even further.

What is Pikes Peak?

It is a legendary American hill climb race, also known as “the race to the clouds”. Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) race takes place in Colorado. It is held in an area amidst the Rocky Mountains around 16 kms west of Colorado Springs. The total distance of the race is 20 kilometres. And the height elevates from an altitude of 2862 metres at the start line to 4300 metres at the finish line.

The announcement of the launch of Pikes Peak edition came shortly after legendary Ducati racer Carlin Dunne led the team to victory during this year’s annual run of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC). He completed the race in 9:59:102! In 2012, Dunne notably became the first motorcyclist to complete the Pikes Peak race course in less than 10 minutes. He said, “The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak proved as amazing as we all hoped. It performed flawlessly, giving me everything I needed to get up the mountain. Pikes Peak is never an easy race, but the weather cooperated and we clinched the victory for Ducati.”

Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak Edition

Talking about the latest Multistrada on offering now, the Mulitstrada 1260 Pikes Peak edition is developed on the same platform as of 1260 S. There are some minor but vital changes though. Such as new chassis dimensions, which include a new front end geometry and a longer swingarm. The changes are visually prominent too as it gets a new color scheme. Coming to the other technical changes, it now comes equipped with new forged aluminium wheels, which are lighter than those of the Multistrada 1260 S. The suspension duties are now handled by Öhlins fork and Öhlins TTX36 shock, which can both be adjusted mechanically.
