  • Austria MotoGP 2018 at the Red Bull Ring: Honda vs Ducati

    After a grueling battle in the Czech Republic Grand Prix, the Austria MotoGP also turned out to be a scintillating affair. Marc Marquez who was the clear favorite after taking the pole, finished second after Ducati rider Jorge Lorenzo after a grueling last lap battle.

    Dovizioso who started from the second, took an early lead being followed closely by Marquez, Crutchlow Lorenzo and Alex Rins. The end of Lap 1 saw Lorenzo out front. This was the beginning of the battle between Lorenzo and Marquez which lasted for all of 28 laps of the Austrian GP. Marquez led the race for 19 laps and Lorenzo led the rest of the 9 laps. Finally, Ducati rider Jorge Lorenzo earned a victory by a margin of 0.130 seconds. Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso took the final podium finishing third. He finished 1.656 seconds behind Lorenzo.

    Cal Crutchlow showed great consistency as he was credited with the 4th position for every single lap of the race. Danilo Petrucci finished 5th ahead of Valentino Rossi at 6th by nearly a second.

    Afetr a break of two weeks, the battle for the MotoGP championship resumes in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone the last season of which was won by Dovizioso.
