Yamaha R15 V3 MotoGP edition has been launched here in India. But, booking this ‘special edition’ motorcycle is not as easy as visit, pay & book that we are used to. It has a ‘procedure’. The bike is available in limited numbers and therefore the customers have to book the bike online first. This follows visiting the dealership of their choice.

The motorcycle has been launched at a price of INR 1.30 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). This special edition is limited to 5000 units in India. The first phase which is already open has 4000 units up for sale. For booking the motorcycle, one must first go to the company’s official website for India and start the booking procedure. The website has a real-time counter that shows how many motorcycles are left.

The booking amount is INR 10,000. It needs to be paid at the dealership selected during the online booking. Other requisites on the website booking are details like name, contact number, E-mail ID, city in addition to the choice of dealership. This is followed by an OTP process to verify the e-mail ID and contact number provided. Once this is done, click on the Book Now button and that’s it.

One of the company's representatives calls the customer for further assistance. The customer needs to bring along his or her valid photo ID proof, bank statement and a local residence proof and needs to deposit Rs 10,000 at the dealership as the booking amount. It has to be noted that the process of visiting the dealership and submitting the token amount needs to be done within 7 days of initiating the booking process online otherwise the booking will be cancelled automatically. The Moto GP Edition of the Yamaha R15 has a waiting period of around 45 days.

The Yamaha R15 V3 MotoGP Edition gets only cosmetic changes though and mechanically the motorcycle stays the same. Read about our first impression and road test of the R15 V3.
