  • Vimal Sumbly joins Royal Enfield as the head of Asia Pacific

Vimal Sumbly, former MD, Triumph Motorcycles, is all set to join Royal Enfield. He will be there as the head of Asia Pacific and will assist in strengthening company’s threshold in this particular region.

Triumph started its venture in India in 2013. Vimal Sumbly played a key role in establishing the company here in India. He had quit the company in August this year and is all set to be a part of Royal Enfield as the head of Asia-Pacific region. At first, he will work from Gurugram and move to Thailand later. Getting him on board is being seen as Royal Enfield’s move to make the company globally stronger.

Royal Enfield has been on a spree of hiring high profile individuals. Previously, they hired Sudhanshu Singh from Star Sports, who joined as head of global brand, and Triumph UK’s design head Simon Warburton, who is now head of product development.

Vimal Sumbly had also been a part of Bajaj Auto’s top management team and assisted bringing KTM on board and setting up pro biking dealerships across the country.

Oh wow! Now he can fool the Royal Enfield owners of other countries as well now. 😂 After what he did at Triumph this man suits Royal Enfield! ☺️

          Well, maybe...
Triumph (India) had this detuning scandal at one time in the past. It costed them heavy. The Indian Street Triple 675R for example, made 79 something bhp in India, while they claimed something around 106 bhp. The entire Triumph range was detuned in India, AFAIK.

The company's fault was that they claimed higher figures earlier.
Apart from this, maybe this detuning and tinkering resulted in further problems as Street Triple used to switch off at high speeds on its own, resulting in dangerous situations.

Well, he's the one who started the trend that, you can't buy a Triumph if you're not properly geared. He was taking a big risk when he did that.
Plus, the Tiger Training Academy. He is a true biker.
Yes, that detuning stuff was really bad news, and a big management mistake if I may say so.

I guess no one can be perfect. Let's only hope for the better. I have big hopes with him, about the recent Royal Enfield Pegasus 500 issue...

Well okay, he brought these welcome changes but the way he treated the owners who threatened to take legal action was inexcusable!
