  • Suzuki GSX-S300 is real. Little fighter. Big Fight.

Suzuki might be looking to come up with a GSX-S300. The affordable performance motorcycle segment in India has been on boil from the past few years. It was further heated up when BMW decided to finally launch the G 310 twins in India. Suzuki though, despite being one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers has been absent from this space. They did try their hand with the Inazuma 250 but the motorcycle couldn’t gain as much traction as the folks at Suzuki would have liked. Now they might be planning to ruffle some feathers in this segment. Something they sure did with the Gixxer 155 in its respective segment.

The spy shots of which have been captured in China for the very first time. The name displayed on the tank shrouds read DR300 but the possibilities are that if Suzuki decides to bring it in India it might as well be renamed to Suzuki GSX-S300.

Though the spy images don’t reveal a lot of details of the motorcycle but one can easily come up with the fact that it will come with LED headlamps, following the trend which is going on in this segment. Other details include the design of the alloy wheels, extended tank shrouds, engine belly pan and swingarm. The motorcycle captured in the spy images is also equipped with USD front forks, giving it a more upmarket feel.

The tyres seem to be sourced from Pirelli. Apparently, the motorcycle in question here is code-named as Haojue HJ300 in China. Suzuki has partnered with Haojue motorcycles to produce its small displacement motorcycles in China. The HJ300, reportedly has a 299 cc, parallel twin engine and will be mated to a 6 speed gearbox. The power figures and other technical details are yet to be revealed. It’s expected to feature petal disc brakes at both the ends and dual channel ABS as well.

Let us hope that it is launched in India as well and that too, soon to take the fight forward from Suzuki’s end to the bandwagon of other motorcycles such as KTM Duke 390, Benelli TNT 300, BMW G 310 R, Bajaj Dominar 400 and the likes.

This would be a fantastic opportunity for Suzuki to build on the trust they already have here in India. They either don't read our market well or may be they are super happy with car sales. People will come running to their showrooms if they give a competent and fun big(ger) bike.
Even a single cylinder 300cc bike with about 30 PS and 27 NM will make people go weak on their knees. I'd love to own a Suzuki one day.

Hop they don't repeat the Inazuma. The bike was fantastic but the way Suzuki handled it - ruined everything!

Going by the success of the GSX 150R, Suzuki can do wonders with GSX 300R.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

This is exciting news. Many Gixxer 150 owners (myself) are looking ahead for a worthy upgrade from Suzuki's stable after proud years of ownership. Hoping this make ventures to Indian market as well. I seriously don't want Suzuki to treat Indian customer as likes of Honda or Hero Motors where current quarter liter offerings are either outdated or delayed.

I've heard of a gixxer 250, 6speed, oil cooled, fi bike which which will produce 28bhp and 22 or 23 nm of torque based on the existing gixxer frame and will cost a good 40k lesser than the currently selling cbr 250 r.

Either ways do not believe what the media says, until and unless it comes as a official announcement, same thing happened with Honda at the auto show this year start, people were expecting a brand new cbr 250rr or 300r instead they came with a existing cbr with a colour change and Leds.
