  • Bajaj Pulsar 220F ABS spied testing, might be launched before Diwali

In the light of the coming festive season, the two-wheeler market is gearing up for some new launches and a lot of refreshes. One of them spied testing is the Bajal Pulsar 220F ABS. It will likely be launched by Diwali and might get costlier by around INR 10,000. This comes not long after the Bajaj Pulsar 150 ABS was spied. The photos were published on Rushlane.

In the photos, the front disc brake on the motorcycle can be clearly seen sporting the ABS rings. However, the rear disc is not visible in the photos so it can’t be said whether the bike will get a dual-channel ABS setup or will it make do with a single-channel unit. The decals also seem to be a bit different so that is another change. Apart from that we are not expecting a lot of changes and mechanically the motorcycle is expected to remain the same.

The 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 220F ABS too will get power from the same 220cc, oil-cooled engine mated to a five-speed transmission, churning out a maximum power output of 21 bhp and 19 Nm of torque.

Thats what I felt too. They did it for 150 and that was understandable, but why for 220? Guess they wanted to put something there or the production versions won't have it.

Is that a Dominar besides the sweet 220?
People may hate it or love it but P220 has been here for more than a decade and is still one of the best selling Pulsar model till date. It has almost everything that a normal, medium class person, who is an enthusiast at heart would ask for - Still fantastic projector headlights, 15 L tank, decent fuel efficiency, super cheap spares and easy maintenance.
Those who crib about how difficult it is to maintain a Pulsar has probably never owned a Bajaj product and/or has no idea that Pulsars do need a little love and greasy hands.
I own a 220 since 2015 and addition of ABS is probably gonna make the 220 even more tastier.
If at all it gets some retuning and slipper clutch, it will become the best bike in that price range hands/helmets/gloves down.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

You put this in a way, I couldn't ever have! Indeed, the biggest Pulsar is about to get better... My Pulsar 180(208?) too taught me a lot, because I modified her for performance, but never let me down even in its modified state.

Plus, with the exit of the Karizma & ZMR, the gap left can be best filled by this bike, and its great, if you need a tourer within this budget and segment... Maybe this move is due to push for ABS, or maybe Xtreme 200, we can never say, but good that it happened.

That is because, from April 2019, all the bikes, both existing and new launches, above 125 CC should have ABS mandatorily. For the bikes less than 125 CC, the manufacturer can chose not to equip with ABS however it would be better if ABS is made mandatory in all class of bikes.

The only reason I don't have a FZ25 parked in my garage today is lack of ABS. It is a very well rounded bike otherwise. But no ABS (not even as an option!) in this day and age! That too on a 250cc bike that can do respectable speeds! This from a sensible company like yamaha?! It beggars belief.

Their showroom people even went so far as to tell me that their bikes are so well balanced that ABS is not needed. I didn't even know how to begin explaining how much was wrong with that statement so I just left the showroom nodding and smiling

Respectable doesnt matter in India. Yamaha INdia said in a press statement that they will not install ABS on their lower end bikes unless its mandatory. That should tell you something about the company.
