Arc consistently uses phrases like “the world’s most advanced electric motorcycle,” “the most efficient, safest and most fulfilling electric motorcycle,” and “best-in-class performance and quality” for the Vector. This certainly shows the company’s intent of raising the bar. Or probably owning the bar. The info on the motorcycle is scarce but it will supposedly debut at EICMA 2018 in Milan. That isn’t very far now is it? That means we will get to see if this new kid on the block (Arc) can back what they have been claiming.
Arc states that the Arc Vector is hand-built using a lightweight carbon-composite structure. And that is the only concrete info out in the open at the moment. We have seen a lot of motorcycles making use of Carbon fibre and stuff but it’s not that or the not yet revealed numbers that makes Arc mount such bold claims. It is the capability of the motorcycle. Capabilities and features never seen before on the motorcycle. Arc claims that they want to completely change the way in which a rider enjoys their trips.
Firstly, we have the Origin Wear (that’s what they call it). It is an armored jacket that also sports haptic pads. The jacket can act as an extension of the bike’s systems vibrating, for instance, when a potential hazard is detected. The jacket and its haptic mode can be programed in several different modes, including one called Euphoric, that allow it to play music “into you,” not unlike the Audio Bone headphones that play music straight into the wearer’s head, bypassing the ear.
Then there’s the connected Zenith helmet that features a head-up display inspired by fighter pilot technology. All the data previously obtained by looking down at the dials can now be made available through the visor, right in front of the rider’s eyes.
The idea of this motorcycle was conceived by a guy named Mark Truman. The motorcycle is a result of a year’s work that allegedly involved people with previous roles within Aston Martin, KTM, Ducati, Triumph, MotoGP and Formula 1. Everything seems promising at the moment but we’ll just wait for EICMA to kick off and take Arc’s word, for now.
