Isn't it illegal to talk on mobile phone while riding ?

Practically, it is illegal to have a phone in your hand/stuck to neck while driving/riding. The word of law is no phone use while riding/driving but the practical derivations of the understanding of the concept differ.

And our lovely cops are far from understanding the concept.

Well, use earphones and keep it quite when you pass them by, that should save it. Routing the cables from inside the Tshirt, shirt or jacket is another good way.

Personally, I stopped using earphones while from 2 months ever since I got P220, to adjust to the new ride and increase the traffic situational awareness, as suggested by ashwinprakas

How about focusing on the road instead?

Thats a good solution too isnt it?

+1 from my side.
I have stopped using them the same reason, also I am not so restless or impatient to get bored and irritated in traffic that makes me want to kill/pass time or keep me entertained by listening to music during my journey of 40-60mins. I can put up with even not doing it. Infact it used to cause headache sometimes which was the final nail in the coffin, so finally stopped it.

Even back when used to wear earphones, I'd only wear one side(usually the right side one) and ensure that volume is at max 30% so that ambient and surrounding noise is more dominant and audible.

I wont support it,can be really dangerous.
What is someone is honking from behind asking for way to go
and we the rider are busy chatting on call.

Re: Steelbird SBA-1 HF: Listen to music and attend calls while riding

Xbhp never promotes indulging in anything else while riding, but I'll try to be positive to this concept.

Just like fast vehicles with top speeds going beyond 200 kmph (or even 110), I would expect this helmet's owner to be mature and inteligent.

A mature owner should,

1. keep the music off,
2. keep it connected and get alerted about calls, but take calls only on stopping the vehicle on roadside, not while riding.
(I know Steelbird claims to isolate outside noises from the music, but why get distracted even a bit?)
3. keep ringing volume on progressive, the incoming call shouldn't startle the rider, ringtone volume should rise up slowly.

For some bikers, taking out their phone (specially when they have gloves on) is tedious and time-consuming, specially so in winters. PLUS, riders have to remove helmet too, to talk. A wired headset may be messy, difficult to manage and get entangled.
With this helmet on, they can stop by the roadside and attend calls instantly.. although, they better hide the aux wire from cops.

But will they actually stop at roadside? I'm sure, at least "you", the Xbhpian who reads this, will.

So, this is a good idea if we use it sanely.
Be responsible while using it, and it will save a lot of time on long rides and commutes both.

I would buy this helmet only to remove its electronics and fit them in my MT Helmet.
I can use this one for city rides without the earphones.
For longer journeys, you need some kind of music in your ears to prevent you from falling asleep or even keep in touch with your fellow riders if they or you get left behind.

Unless the electronics are embedded in between the Shell and the EPS.

Why the double standards though? You value your life lesser in the city? I have seen a lot of people make such a comment which genuinely baffles me. Use a more expensive and renowned helmet for Group rides or highway rides but use a generic helmet for City commutes?

Yes same here...
Our head is same even in city and even in highways.
Some say we are not going to go above 50kmph inside city then why costly helmet.
But Instead of having this double standards.
It's good to use a single Helmet.(The one which you can afford the max)
Am saying this bcz i happened to be in a worse accident 2 years back inside city limits at night.
Crashed into a lorry at a speed of 40kmph.Since our national permit lorries dont have underguard or even working brake lights.First hit was on my helmet on this accident.Nothing else to say..Am still alive since i used the helmet they say highway worthy[emoji28]
