I think R15 V3 is a better option, unless you are a die hard KTM fan with budget around 1.5L

Same old design, New paint scheme though. But on-road price of 1.72 lacs . Some kind of a joke. R15 V3 is a better option for sure at just 1.65 lacs. Gets VVA, dual channel ABS, Slipper clutch and a fresh look compared to V2. I am not even comparing the fit & finish and the feel of yamaha with ktm. KTM has given the enthusiasts VFM bikes like the 390 brothers but this is just not it.

I forgot to mention this bike is heavier than the R15 V3 Did KTM forget to study the market?

Not exactly the reason being how well the Duke 125 selling and it even have crossed the sales of MT15 last month. No doubt R15 is better option in every possible way but for some people KTM is more appealing.

You know, my 2013 Duke 390 (BS3) has given enough niggles and service troubles to me, but I still love it. For just one reason- 44PS, & just 152 kgs weight(often lesser because of half empty fuel tank).
The riding fun is unbelievable in this segment.

I admit BS4 has a role in making the bikes heavy, but is there nothing the company can do. It should weigh 130 kgs!

Why consider a 125cc at all?
If money is the problem, I understand it. They can have all inclusive chargeable trackdays for owners with company's bikes, or maybe all inclusive tours, like Ducati is doing...


I do hope they understand that they'll have a slightly tougher time selling the Duke 790 against refined and well-reviewed Japanese machines, if at all they'll launch it.

True that. In fact even ktm 125 is 9-10 kgs heavier than MT15 What do KTM buyers (not the 390 owners/buyers) find appealing? The orange color?

Too much overpriced! KTM became a hit not only because of the performance, but because of the comparatively low price also at which they could provide it!

You should mention the fact the for extra 7K on-road price you get DOHC setup which R15 v3 missed, gets USD forks with radially mounted calipers which gives better front end feel and handling which sadly R15 missed due to cost cutting here in India, twin bight projectors with 55/65W setup being on of the powerful setup on Indian bikes.

Both bikes have their Pro's and Con's and are very price for their displacement, but it'll depends on user choice.

The way I see it for 1.47L RC125 you get 95% of body & chassis components from the RC390 which cost 2.44L. So 1L extra for the RC390 is only for the 373cc engine, added Read-ABS, side mounted exhaust, Slipper clutch, Ride by Wire and better tyres. And thats it, rest all remains same!

Justifies the high price as it still retains majority of the parts from the RC390.

Planted bike at decent highway speeds, not a wobbly bike like those light weight feel that naked's have when a truck/car overtakes them at speeds.
More weight on the Rear wheel during emergency braking, more stability, not like the rear wheel will be slipping and sliding struggling to grip the road on like on the lighter bikes.

Yes, mechanically RC 125 may be better than its rivals but it's a perfomance bike and in terms of pricing it's rivaling bikes with bigger engine and perfomance. So for someone looking for perfomance, RC won't be appealing at that price. As I said, the mechanical bits are good but I don't see how that justify the current price tag. It would've been a great buy if they priced it around 1L... Or 1.2 or 1.3L max. At this price, it's certainly overpriced.

Value for money has become a joke for KTM. They are taking the customers on a ride by launching such underpowered bikes at such exorbitant prices. Don't forget, you guys tasted success because of the way you priced the Duke 200 while entering the Indian market. For a 125 cc bike you guys want us to spend so much. Heck even the mt15 makes sense now. R15 v3 is much better than this joke/meme from KTM.
