Default Benelli Leoncino 250 launched in India at INR 2.5 Lakh

Just a while ago Benelli launched the Leoncino 500 in India and now, they have added another member in the cub family. The Italian Marquee has launched the Leoncino 250 in India. The motorcycle carries a price tag of INR 2.5 Lakh (Ex-showroom, India).

Benelli has launched the Leoncino 250 with a 3-year/unlimited km warranty as standard and the bookings are open at Rs 6,000 (fully refundable) which can be made online or at Benelli dealerships. The baby cub can be had in 4 colours; Gray, White, Red, and Brown.

Predictably, the Leoncino 250 has its styling inspired by the elder sibling, Leoncino 500. Therefore, the motorcycle carries forward the styling ethos of a retro scrambler that lends the bigger cub an attractive profile. It looks strikingly similar to the 500 but with changed underpinnings; a steel trellis frame, new suspension, and a new swingarm.

The Leoncino 250 is propelled by a 249cc engine which powered the Benelli TNT 25. It makes 25 bhp of power and 21 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. Lighting is all-LED, the instrument cluster is fully digital, and dual-channel ABS as standard, a nod to the modern take on the classic cub.

Suspension setup comprises of 41mm upside-down forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a single 280mm floating disc gripped by a 4-piston calliper and a 240mm disc at the rear held by a single-piston calliper. The 17" wheels are shod with 110/70-R17 and 150/60-R17 tyres at the front and rear, respectively.

While the motorcycle seems impressive, the price may prove to be a deterrent. The motorcycle is in for some stiff competition in the form of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the KTM 250 Duke. Then on the neo-retro scheme of things, we have the Honda CB300R as well. Only time will tell if the baby cub will be able to fend off the attack from quite a few directions.

Benelli may also introduce a Leoncino 800 at EICMA and you can read about it here.
