We have stumbled upon some spy shots on MCN that seem to shed light on the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera. Most of us are aware that Superleggera means Superlight. And to do justice to that name, Ducati seems to use carbon-fibre generously. In the new motorcycle, most parts seem to be made of carbon-fibre.
There's also a new subframe which is completely devoid of anything even remotely associated with a pillion... no pillion mounts... at all. Because of this, the tail section has been modified a bit too and predictably, makes use of a carbon-fibre. And since most manufacturers are going the 'insane amount of power and lowest possible weight' route, the winglets are seemingly a necessity and this one's... look pretty cool.
The Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera sits on 10-spoke BST Rapid Tek carbon wheels, the same ones that were there on the 1299 Superleggera. On the bodywork front as well, most of it must have already been available because of the mad Panigale V4 R. The frame does not seem to be carbon-fibre this time around like we saw on the 1299 Superleggera.
There's also a revised titanium exhaust system, which adopts end cans similar to the Akrapovic unit fitted to the Ducati Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916. Unlike the limited edition, the header pipes on the bike pictured differ from the layout found on any other V4 Panigale, with the blueing finish potentially suggesting a full titanium system as well as shorter exhaust run to save weight.
The suspension is also similar to the Panigale V4 R because the manually-adjusted Öhlins NPX 25-30 on the V4 R are lighter than the semi-active ones on the V4 S. The rear shock is fully-adjustable Öhlins TTX36.
While there is no clarity on when the motorcycle is actually coming, we believe that it could be unveiled on the 23rd of October with the rest of Ducati's 2020 range.
