
But time spares no one and the same goes for even the best. Inevitably, Rossi will have to stop racing someday but the declining form, the brunt of age, and a host of touted mechanical troubles have been expediting the arrival of that day.
The last couple of years have not been kind to Valentino Rossi. With him struggling to get results and his teammate and satellite team racers doing relatively well, there was an announcement not too long ago. In 2021, Rossi does not have a factory seat but he does have an option of joining the satellite team. But does Rossi want that kind of role which people may refer to as a farewell tour? He does not.
In a recent interaction with BT Sport, Rossi stated that he will continue racing if he feels like he can be fast, competitive, and get results. He does not want a spot on the team just so that he can bid adieu to the sport. The decision on his career was to come around this time during the championship. Rossi had stated that he will make a call basis his performance in the first 6-7 races of the 2020 season.

With the COVID-19 pandemic at hand, the racing for this year has not even started. And according to his statement, he has to make a decision soon... before the racing even starts. For someone who felt 'strange' not riding a motorcycle for 2 months, imagine what it may feel like to stop racing.
Rossi went on to say that since 1995, all he has known is racing. He has practically spent his life on circuits. And his statement that despite being strange, he enjoyed being at home and spending time with his family. This may very well point to the bell being rung for Rossi.
In contrast to that, his statement about the feeling that he had when we went out on the track after so long, tells otherwise. At any rate, Rossi concluded the interview by saying that we may soon have a decision from his end.
