Default Indian Motorcycle rewards 'Test Ride Contest' winner with an FTR 1200!

Have you ever thought about winning a motorcycle just by taking a test ride? No, right? We haven't either because it does not happen in the real world. And when the motorcycle is a spanking new FTR 1200, it is an even bigger nope. Except... it did happen! Martin de Vroege, a train operator from the Netherlands has just won a brand new FTR 1200 by just... taking a test ride of it!

Dark humour has us asking, "What else, 2020?" but we'll refrain. Trying to wrap our heads around it, here's the story. So Indian Motorcycle had run a completion called 'Win an FTR 1200'. There must have been a '*' somewhere as well which almost always ensures that things like that don't happen.

Anyway, the competition went on from May till the end of July. All that the entrants needed to do was to take a test ride of any FTR 1200 at their local participating dealer and leave their details at the dealership (and hopes of actually winning along with those). Indian Motorcycle was then to randomly select a winner.

Martin was the random selection and along with the expression of sheer joy on his face, we can also see mild hints of WTF! And why wouldn't there be... After all, we have test ridden a plethora of motorcycles and haven't won sh*t. And we are sure that your life story has been the same. Not for Lucky Martin though.

Martin explains that when he first saw the FTR 1200, he fell in love with it (Finally! Some common ground). He was looking to buy a new motorcycle for some time and he had always been a fan of Italian V-Twins. But he was curious about the FTR as well. Whoever said curiosity killed the cat needs to be slapped (sorry, brother) because here, it won the cat a darn hoot of a motorcycle.

Moving on, Martin got to know about the competition and thought of giving it a try. Already planning to buy a motorcycle, we are sure he was not expecting to win one. After the test ride, he said, "The test ride really exceeded my expectations. The FTR has such an impressive engine, yet is very easy and comfortable to ride. You can almost steer it with one finger."

Taking delivery of his brand new FTR at Motostore Barendrecht, a very happy Martin kept repeating that he couldn’t believe he had actually won a motorcycle. We feel you, Martin. We really do.

A petrol-head from the age of 16, riding off-road through the forests on mopeds and later on motorbikes, Martin got his motorcycle road license at the age of 27. His preference is for powerful sporty bikes, loving nothing more than a spirited ride whenever he can. Sometimes he rides with his friends but usually, he rides with his wife, who also has her own motorcycle, and they like to take nice tours with hotel sleepover.

Asked about the plans he had for making the FTR 1200 his own, Martin said: “The standard model is looking very good, so I might just keep the changes to the mirrors, turn lights and seat cover for now. But in the future, who knows?”

We would like to congratulate Martin and also advise to try not to steer the motorcycle with one finger. That said, with luck like his, he might get away with that as well.

The Nordic countries are Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The Netherlands is categorically NOT a Nordic country. Dutch culture nevertheless has many merits.
