1) Battery Change - Exide. Rs. 1,350
2) Oil Leakage From Head Due To Stripping of Threads - Rs. 600
3) Clutch Bell Play - Rs. 600
4) Front Fork Oil Change
5) General Service - Rs. 500
6) Engine Oil Change - Rs. 650
7) Chain Lube Job - Rs. 90
Except for the Engine Oil Change, these are the maximum costs he has quoted. He estimates the bill to amount to Rs. 4,000. Are these costs reasonable or am I being ripped off?
Lathe cost for stripped threads is too much. Max cost with brass sleeve is Rs.200/- which is a permanent solution. FYI, new cam-carrier itself costs 550~Rs.600/-
Clutch bell lathe cost is also slightly on the higher side. How did he arrive at a conclusion that bell has play ?
General service 500 ??
Chain lube ? Come on, you can get a rolon lube can for Rs.140/- and DIY for 7~9 times.
The total comes to 3K. Where is the other 1K ? For overhauling the forks ?
Don't be surprised if you are just charged for the lathe job without out any actual work being carried-out. Authorized service centers rarely go for lathe work.
Time to find a local mechanic and get the work done under your supervision. I find it strange that you still continue to visit ASC for repairs.
