  • Reviewing Solace jacket for touring purpose

Hi I have been very inactive on the forum since I am not a techhie guy so far.
Would like to review a jacket.
(I will add pics later on since the jacket is at home)

    Jacket name - Solace Furious
    Brand - Solace
Jacket type - Touring textile jacket.

I was looking for a jacket and was interested in viscoelastic foam armour and so ended up buying this jacket.

    Coming to the jacket.
It comes with rain, winter liner and main jacket in pack. Packing was very nice.

The jacket is a textile and you can see all the specifications here.

    FURIOUS TOURING JACKET

I will not talk about the specifications which are ofcourse best in budget but will talk about experience of jacket and what I feel is needed to be known.

First of all, armour is sastec level 2 on back and shoulder and elbow and there is also level 1 chest guard protector provided in it.

Pockets are there, 2 on front, 1 on front upper side waterproof and 1 on back and 1 on winter liner.

A reflective tape thing is given with jacket which shines in low light. Jacket also has reflectors from 3m and also rain lines has reflectors.

Experience is that the vent at front and back can be opened fully and there is nice airflow when open. The jacket is comfortable due to armour being very soft and high quality. There is mesh lining inside so it doesn't get very hot. There are adjusting straps on arm, biceps and waist.

All in all best jacket in price point, better than competing brand like rynox or cramster. Sastec is very good armour and I did some online research before buying it. Size I bought was M for 37 inch chest.

The winter liner is average like all jackets but it is filled with something called polymer for extra heat.

Rain liner has nice stitching and quality and can be put inside pocket on the back.

A very good buy for me.
Hope my review makes decision making easy for you others.
    Have a nice day.[emoji4]

Re: Reviewing Solace jacket for touring purpose

So now I will be reviewing the jacket in a better way.

          Meh !

First of all the price. It is ₹10999 shipping included and you can always try the jacket at Solace dealers in your area.

          Link to product - http://solaceintl.in/index.php?route...product_id=194

Link to dealer locations - http://solaceintl.in/index.php?route...ormation_id=12

          Lets get to abouts !

Material used is Polydura 700D which is a very nice thing and is highly abrasion resistant. Inside has a mesh lining and I personally never felt hot even when sitting in the room for 1 hour wearing the jacket.
The neck has soft fleece and is very good.

The jacket has sastec armour, which is best in the whole industry and can be re-used after an impact, can be cut to size without negatively affecting performance. Refer to wikipedia or http://www.teizms.com/blog/?p=87 or almost any article over the nearest Google [emoji13]

          Source Wiki.

Now where is the armour present ? We all know some jackets shy at armours by giving it only on the limbs and the back is a foam protector and you have to upgrade and soon and bla bla bla.

This is where Furious caught my attention ! The armour is all around ! Even on the chest.

Here is a picture of all the armours.
All are comfortable and level 2 (chest level 1).
Believe me, far more comfortable than Knox or any unbranded armour.

Now let's talk about ventilation. The jacket has removable and openable panels with mesh inside on the chest and back. These panels are fully adjustable and offers loads of wind gushing inside.
          Here is a pic.

The front vents both opened. 3m reflective lining can be easily seen here !
The adjusters on arms are all velcro, there is stretching material on the elbows and the shoulders so movement is never restricted.
Two pockets on the front, one inside the chain. All the chains are YKK branded and great quality.

The back side vents opened, there is a rabbit pocket below it to keep rain liner. (heck I even keep my books in it at times)

          -----

Winter liner is cosy, warm and can be worn alone. PLR Thermoline filled for extra heat retention.

          -----

The rain liner (No idea about white dots may be due to camera). It is very nice quality, seams are sealed and the cuffs are tight. Can be worn inside, outside the jacket and ofcourse can be worn alone. (Free rain jacket haha). It also has a reflective taping from 3M on the back.

More pictures of the sastec armour 😍

          Elbow armour level 2.

          Shoulder armour level 2.

          Back protector level 2.

          Chest protector level 1.

Now coming to what I did not like about the jacket.
I feel a key holder could be provided but not so necessary given there are so many pockets.

This jacket is far better value for money compared to RE darcha which costs 22000 (just double) and has knox level 1 only on limbs !!

P.s there is also a reflective tape provided that can be fixed onto the jacket for riding and visibility at night. Here is the pic. It is stretchable and good quality.

          Jacket single side vent open.

I have been using the jacket in mixed conditions for only 2000kms yet and feels premium and upmarket. Protectors oh man they are very comfortable and pliable and still very safe in case of a crash.

If you have any questions or queries regarding my jacket, just pm me.

Also, I am not associated to Sastec, Solace, Velcro, YKK, 3M or any brand in this review in any way.

Hope you like the review and your money goes well spent.
          Ciao for now !

Any pics of the main zipper?
I am using the first gen defender plus and the main zipper was rubbish. But Mr. Kumar was nice enough to get it replaced free of cost

Its not about YKK its about the type of zip.
Jackets usually have zippers with big chunky teeth. The one I had small teeth it got torn at the edge within 3 months
Zippers have always been an issue with solace. Let's hope this doesn't disappoint as I have plans of buying it within 6 months.

So the jacket is doing great, no problems as of now. Done more than 20k kms on this jacket. The ventilation is surprisingly good for a touring textile jacket.

I have used the jacket quite roughly, wearing it in the lab and off the motorcycle too, almost all the time, actually had no place to store it.

Even wore it to a trek to Sari village and nearby attractions like Deoria Tal and Chopta. [emoji12] Didn't quite feel the need of a winter liner even when it was snowing, with the vents closed.

The stash pocket on back helped me collect quite a few things.

The rain liner has been tested now and it is very good and reliable.

                            Overall a very worthy buy.
I also bought Solace pants, took me some time collecting the moolah.
Looking to have a great experience with same too.

I have upgraded to the latest version of Furious with a bigger rear pocket and red strips in places. As again the zippers are same as the ones that gave me problems in the defender. The front flaps for the mesh panels in the jacket are fine for now but they are bound to get loose soon and come off their recesses while riding. Need to do some jugaad stuff to hold the flaps in place.
The armors are a beauty and jacket has many functional features that are worth the money. The zipper and the flaps seem to be the biggest concerns. Sadly no reviewer/vlogger/brand patron bothered to raised this issue and these small niggles were buried under the accolades it received for its positive points.
