  • EASTERN INDIA ROCKED:BBSR-KOLKATA xBHPians MEET AT CHANDIPUR-ON-SEA!!

"This is going to be an epic ride" is what was running in mind of most of the Eastern India's xBhpians minds before the trip. From past 1 month, back when the ride was planned by xBhpian Bappdaitya(On_wheels) there has been many a changes in both the side's plans. After much discussion finally we decided on Chandipur as a location as it falls exactly in midway between BBSR and Kolkata which would be feasible for both the groups and keep the fatigue levels in check.

    THE ROUTE:

    Bhubaneswar-Baleshwar

    Kolkata-Baleshwar

    The DESTINATION: CHANDIPUR

Chandipur also known as Chandipur-on-sea is a small sea resort in Balasore District, Orissa, India. The resort is on the Bay of Bengal and is approximately "16 kilometers from the Baleshwar". Backed up by musical sway of casuarina trees and creepered sand dunes, Chandipur is one such beach, but with a unique distinction on its own.

Unlike other beaches, the sea water here recedes away from the shore line about five km twice a day, an unusual phenomenon, rarely found anywhere. You can see the sea literally vanishing before your eyes and also watch it coming back rhythmically at regular intervals, as if playing hide and seek.

Chandipur-on-sea is also the location of the Indian Army's Integrated Test Range (ITR). A number of missiles have been launched from the ITR including the nuclear capable Akash, Agni, Shaurya, and Prithvi ballistic missiles.

"So, It wouldn't have got any better when 26 Bikers on 22 Bikes made up their mind in enjoying the beauty at it's best and being Monsoon Season the experience just got better."

I am completely tied up by work.I am slowly processing 2.5 gb worth of pics. Please bear with me.Will try to compile and upload the pics and the log as soon as possible.

    @Kolkata and BBSR xBhpians
Please post in your experiences along with logs and pics in this thread.

An interstate grand G2G!!!! what does it feel like ??? That night I failed to sleep,I kept waiting for the dawn to break. The sooner the clock ticked 4.15,I started my own engine,by 5'o clock,I was done with all packing and bagging and warming the bike up,bathing, brushing and then zooming off at the rendezvous point. My initial rendezvous point was at Moulali in my city, where I asked Mandeep to wait and he had been keeping waiting for half an hour.....really sorry for that After meeting Mandeep we took of for the trimuthi Petrol pump where everyone should meet.As we zoomed in,we found bikers waiting, some filling their tanks and some chatting on the roadside. To make the morning beautiful and the day better,Sudipta Roy was there with his R1 !!!! But Vishal and his bro was not there with their respective fireblade and R1.......anyway,it was great to see Sudipta Roy to see off our group till Kolaghat on his R1.Finding the R1,an excited Bikemanic wanted a piece of full rev music, and he tore our eardrums before the ride started
Our first stop after we started off from the city was,Azad Hind Dhaba,Our member SVJHonda was the Pilot of the group and I was in Co-pilot.The R1 started making mincemeat of fast cars and miles. It zoomed into distance, loomed at our back and it was all over our us and our group,We experienced negligible traffic as the cars were afraid to overtake the group and the lorries maintained a safe distance from us.Few rowdy cars and trucks were there, but the moment the R1 was driving the radar, they were lifting their skirts and made way for us
At Azad Hind Dhaba as we were having our breakfast stop, two more members amazed us with their hallowed presence to see us off till Orissa. They were MetalHead AJ and On wheels.I was so happy at their presence,we are indeed having some fun now.A certain Bikemanic failed to keep a tab on his desires and finally asked the keys of R1 from Sudipto,he rode the bike till 6000rpm and got photographed, ahh that allows some poser value indeed But he became a fan of the bike later on and is being still haunted with the desire to own it Sudipta and his R1 said us goodbye after this Hallowed was his presence.
After this,Srikanth took the lead,I still opted for the co-pilot,the group picked up speed now,we all cruised around 75-80kmph for now, made a stop before crossing Kharagpur.Metalhead Aj was asked to lead, with myself in co-pilot still. But Aj started enjoying the roads and wanted to fly so he did as he dragged his RTRFi,but I sat up and cruised my bike, just enough to make sure that I remain at a hand's length from his bike. But seeing this Dipanjan got interested and came flying by to have some dragging, but MetalHead didnt oblige him Anyway,we were back to gentle cruising,Gibran appeared near the lead at a certain intersection,to ascertain that the route AJ was taking was alright or not,Aj conviced him that this were the roads where he learnt touring well then carry-on,after a few kilometres AJ swapped back to trail.Srikanth took the lead again, with me in second still.Ok,Srikanth,Ayaz and Myself did some speed blasts this time,Srikanth was riding dual, with Mehtab pillion, both crouched down but somehow my bike doesnt provides for good crouch position,so I had to be on half-crouch.Srikanth's bike as reported by him grossed a top end of 135kmph on speedo, with myself just at his side grossing a 127kmph on speedo.Srikanth saw a truck in his lane and slowed down, but I carried on the blast,as I wanted to ride a bit longer at that speed, this being the first time,I was doing around 9000rpms on my bike in sixth gear ........was enjoying it.I travelled some few kilometeres to find no one behind me and then stopped for a few minutes for the group to pass by.The group finally passed by and I decided to gently trail the pack,as usually I like Variety-the Spice of Life
As we neared the Orissa border,we were greeted by the rains. We pulled off by the road, got our rain gears on,here we discovered our member Nighthawklee without any rain gears, many envied his immunity We were back cruising.
We had to stop five times on our way to destination for the rains slowed us down heavily, but finally reached our destination at around 1.23 in afternoon.
Bappa and Ajosro, then turned back and headed for WB after filling their tanks.

While moving towards PaanthNivas, our group ran into a defence area !!! Half of the group was already inside,Dipanjan was intercepted by a CRPF,seeing the trouble from trail,I came up and conversed with the Jawan, the Jawan told that we have to take a right turn which we had passed and we have entered into a restricted zone.Mandeep was sent to call the front end of the group. He brought back the group lead by Srikanth,we rode out of the zone, with myself in trail.
After this we took the right turn and we finally reached paanthnivas. Some of the Orissa Members came hurriedly to greet us Avik and Swagat were the ones who enquired us by names.I was so happy to meet Chicane aka Swagat,I cant believe myself that I am shaking my hands with someone who has been such a help on the Launch Speculation thread and at times seemed to be my closest friend too,but I was taken aback, that the biker called Chicane would be such a gentleman in looks and attitude too,its just when he rode his RTR180,you realise the real Chicane Avik aka Black17bhp came across, with his who paid dues and who dint issue Well then he handed the keys of our rooms to us one by one.We were all tired by then and seriously needed to freshen up.We had our lunch, and went for a short sleep.Gibran was my room-mate and he was really tired.
In the evening,we had the rest of the members coming up from another hotel, the Hyosung Comet came up,the only 250cc in group.Devrockz was a coll guy too. They had a chat with Gibran, who owned the comet for five years and now was the owner of the only 165cc R15 in the whole group and that too tuned by Joel....so some hardcore biking discussion was on the way.We all moved to the beach in the evening.Mandeep and Shahbaz were the two members who took their bikes to the beach,on my bidding, and they turned out to be P220F and R15 incidentally, they learnt how hardcore was beach riding
Then we headed for the sea, there was water inland on the coast,we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves on the waters, would have stayed longer, but the rains played spoil sports again !!!!!!!
The night was spent among a myriad of experiences, starting with entering a full AC restaurant wholly wet !!!!! creating a chaos with shouts and jokes, sipping coffee and with some heated discussion between Gibran and Swagat over which is faster......RTR180 or R15.The rest was carried out in the dorm.....The only bike which was left out of discussion was P220F,the bike didnt have any takers,Mandeep being a most gentle guy.Had it been someone like Snigdhanshu,it would have had more spice
Ayaz,Mandeep,Shahbaz and Myself were more busy fixing bikes that went wrong.Shahbaz's R15 had rear disc pads gone kaput,we got it replaced at a local mech with our own assistance and sweat in it.Sunny's RTRFi had a loose chain, its slack was adjusted too.Mandeep wanted to head for the beach but rain was a spoiler. We had pakoras later on in the dorm,I had a chat with Swagat. Then we had our dinners and called off the day, retired for the night.
The next morning,we started out of our hotel by 9.00am and we were greeted good morning by rains again. We had tea and Puri-Aloo for breakfast and went off.Actually had it not rained,we would have had visited atleast a nearby spot. But heavy rains and chaotic roads coupled with a small mishap, had us rolling towards our homes. The BBSR and the Kol riders had one last bit of tea together, and headed of towards our own destination.Avik and Swagat waved us goodbye as we moved off into distance.............
The rest of Journey back to home was a cruise at 105kmph thing. We seldom went below 95kmph.It was a cool one with an ocassional stop which turned out to be exciting, with Gibran and Srikanth going for a drag with a R15 and a RTR180 respectively. These two speedfreaks also raced each other while riding,Gibran on his tuned-R15 and Srikanth on Mandeep's P220F.But they were interrupted by a truck, who wanted to cross the road.I was at trail watching their every move.........man it was reckless
Apart from a few untoward scene we had on the road, the journey was a peaceful one...............
The G2G was simply awesome, I always expect that the few people from Kolkata who joined in the ride to be always together in getting the Xbhp to a higher side in our side of our country.
Sagar,Dipanjan,Mandeep,Srikanth,Ayaz,Shahbaz,Soura v,Bappaditya,Ajosro,Sudiptoda,Gibran,Sunny Konkal...........I personally thank you all,for gifting Xbhp such a beautiful experience, and I myself feel to great to be a part of it too !!!!!!
                          Now onto the pics

The show stopper and the superstar.........the only one-R1

The only Suzuki in the whole G2G

Our first stop........myriad parking line-up,from Platina to R1

The lead bikes and a roadside stop

Onwheels and Metalhead AJ seeing us off............

The only 165cc-highly tuned yzf-R165 of the entire G2G

The only 250cc,Comet GT250 of the entire G2G

Beach riders, ahem, neither Gibran is afraid as a pillion on a P220F on beach, nor is he Mandeep's GF.........he is just enjoying being clicked out there while Shabaz is the real poser

Burnout gone wet ,rains killed the forming smoke, but the spinning rear tyre is evident, its Nighthawk_lee aka Shahbaz.

                          Coastline chitchat

On going serious discussion between Bikemanic(on left) and Chicane(on right)

Someones grinning amid a serious discussion at someone's cost

                          BBSR-KOL United machines

                          The coastline we rode to.........

                          The roads we traversed................

At the end,a great G2G...........always looking forward for more.I hope the next time, the Orissa Xbhpians to ride to West Bengal while we greet them and treat them at our very own Mandarmoni and Sankarpur beach ...this time only drier

Apart from these a few observations,I would like to make.
1.The job of a Trailer or a Sweeper in a group riding is one of the most exhilarating,I am saying this because this is the first time I opted for it.It is the most responsible and challenging as well as the best position to ride in.One can keep a watch on the movement of the entire group from the back and can help members who feeling uneasy.Next is that if some member is falling back, his problems needs to be sorted out and then its really a job to lead these riders to ride fast and do the catch up with the group.

Thrice in this G2G was my trailing of service.
First was of the sudden stopping of NS2115.His RTR160 started losing power and engine shut off on revving.Gibran on his free roam was absolutely helpful,as he came across and helped into the matter. We advised NS to keep his idling high till, the problem subsides.NS's bike troubled no more after that.
Second was that of the Hero Honda Hunk's accident the next day.I was the last person to take note of his location, while the rider was on his mobile by the roadside,I urged him to move on,but he was on an important call it seemed. So,I left him and moved as trail. The moment Avik got news of his fall,I was able to update Avik with his last known location, hence off went Avik and found him.........I dint knew what road or what place it was,but I described where he was.
Third,I always indicated the members who rode slowly, like Sunny on his RTRFi,Somnath on his Dazzler,Rider of the CBF Stunner,Bajaj Pulsar and Platina......they usually broke the trail. So they were asked by Swagat and Gibran to ride in the front for a better movement. And it was of help truly

2.Next,I have to admit as a responsible Xbhpian, that the cruise speed we maintained during our return journey was not the apt speed.A speed of 105-110kmph at a stretch should not be the cruise speed of bikes lower than 250cc...........each and everyone may get stressed.Every bike in the group is not the tourer type, cruising at flatout speeds can be tiring on these bikes also it can be reckless and dangerous too.......what if the chain gets torn, conrod breaks or people lose control over a certain bump on an uneven road ????? Things like these happens on even the best bikes money can buy.So lets keep it in mind that we do 85-90kmph in a group where most bikes are of sub 250cc capacities, whatever bike we might ride.

Hence, with these invaluable experience.........I close my log for one of the most memorable G2Gs of my life till date and one of the biggest Biking G2G in the entire eastern India. Thanks to all for making it a major success

P.S.........the Bikers need to drain their own oil too........though this is for the rogue caged four-wheelers and unassuming dumbass truck drivers

                          ...........Enjoy it
