Nartiang is known for one of the oldest Durga Temple where Human sacrifice used to take place before the British came to this place. There used to be a tunnel within the temple leading to a nearby river and human heads used to be thrown in sacrifice through this tunnel. But after the British came, this practice was banned and the tunnel is now sealed as seen in the pictures below. Nearby this Durga temple is a Shiv temple. Though no Shivling was found during our visit, one would find 10 canons inside this temple. Some of them about 3 meters length. Probably, these were used during war by the British.
Another historic importance of this village is the Monoliths erected by the villagers and Jaintia Kings. Some of them are 8 meters tall. A beautiful place for a visit.
