    Ride to Dudhani, Silvassa...

    STATISTICS ...
    Number of Bikers: 17
    Number of Bikes: 15 + 1 scooter !!
    Approximate distance travelled: ~360kms
Road conditions: NH8 is smooth but flyover constructions going on in between. SH29 and roads towards dudhani are pretty decent excluding a few rough pathes.

    Interesting events:-
1.)Formed the pulsar 150+kmph club. Although one of the p220's lost some nut !!
2.)Pranav_D has now been officially nicknamed 'steam engine' for smoking on every halt !!
3.)Pranit broke the record for 'refilling the max number of times' when he ordered the unlimited buffet during the breakfast at kamath's !!
4.)Joel showed how 'boggie woogieing' before a ride helps him carve the corners better !!
5.)Ripped a stock Honda Dio to its limit and achieved 100kmph(speedo) on a straight road!!
6.)Did all of the above as safely as possible while following standard xbhp safety protocols and more importantly without pissing Rony off !!

DISCLAIMER: No offense to anyone mentioned in this thread. Just my way of breaking the ice before the trip log.

Me and Rony are working on the log, will be out soon. Till then a few pics for those who missed this...

Thanks Vishwas, my dio reaches 85kmph at a decent pace, 85 to 90 is slow and 90 to 100 is really really slow . Didn't know exactly how long but the road was clear of any traffic and it was a clean long stretch. I rolled off the throttle as soon as I hit 100. But it was completely stable, no fishtailing what so ever. Didn't expect that.

Lol, ofcourse not buddy. Rony bhai sab kuch detail mein karte hai. Banda perfectionist hai, so I would suggest you wait just a bit.

The dio performed pretty well, didn't want to slow down the group by riding at 60-65 which is the cruising speed for my automatic and hence it was almost full throttle all the way. Even on the state highway and through the twisties, often touched 80-85, ofcourse slowed down for really sharp corners. The only thing I was worried about is extra fuel that i was carrying - a 2 litre can full of petrol in the boot of my dio. Am happy nothing happened, else my arse would be on fire .

                          About Dudhani in brief

The ride from Silvassa to Dudhni (almost 45 Km) is full of bends, curves, mountains, slopes and lush green as well as colourful road covering forests. The place apart from the natural beauty has also been developed very nicely into a family picnic spot. The Damanganga River has been passionately decorated at the Madhuban Dam and the enhanced beauty simply blows one of the feet. It is also possible to fulfill the desire to go water scooting o the river stretch that has been specially crafted for adventure as well as leisure sports. The scenic beauty of the place is an added advantage always fascinating the tourists with its pleasant elegance.

Appendix A - Places to visit in Silvassa
                          1. Church of Our Lady of Piety
                          2. Tribal cultural Museum
                          3. Vandhara Udyan
Saw the list of confirmed riders the day before and immediately got the complex. Why? - All I could see in the list were p220's, r15's ,etc. Thought to myself - What the hell, as long as these guys don't cruise at triple digit speeds I should be fine !!

So the night before the ride I got my tank topped up and also carried an extra 2 liter fuel can, as a backup(since the Dio has just 6ltr tank). I was carrying the fuel can in my boot, hence I had placed it on top of freezed water bottles to ensure that the fuel stayed within safe temperature range. Packed > 2litres of water, extra visor and what not (all thanks to my spacious Dio's boot !!) Didn't know meeting points properly hence had told Rony that I would directly come to his place around 4.15 and that we would leave together.

                          Meeting the riders

So on the day of the ride I woke up at around 3am, after getting cleaned up I put on my gears and left my place(in Mahim) around 4. I reached Rony's place in around 15mins. After that we left and reached the first meeting point 1 (Bisleri junction, Andheri) where we teamed up with Aman (r15). Then Pranav (p220) joined us near WEH-JVLR junction and we all proceeded towards Dahisar check naka where we met Yogesh (Bullet), Praneet (p220), Abhay (p220) and Rahul (p220).

From there all eight of us moved towards the last meeting point (WEH - Ghodbunder road junction) where we had to wait for the remaining 8 riders Deepan (ZMA), Viraj (R15), Sachin (ZMR), Joel (p220F), Swapnil (p220), Mithun (p220), Sagar (p220) and Gautam (RTR160) with Pillion Sarita. They were riding from central suburbs and navi mumbai and due to heavy traffic on Airoli Bridge and Ghodbunder Road, the riders arrived 45 minutes behind schedule at around 6pm. This was the first major delay in our ride.

After everyone had come, Rony briefed us about the ride. He asked riders to ride in formation and formed two groups - one for the rippers (with Sachin as leader & Viraj as sweeper) and the other for the cruisers (Rony as leader & Gautam as sweeper).

                          Ride commences
As the ride started at around 6:15am, it was still dark (early morning) also a bit of fog. Riding in formation was slightly off since we encountered traffic (heavy vehicles) and to add to it, kamkazi private vehicles and the moist road surface. But everyone (both experienced riders as well as newbies) stuck to the riding protocol, occasionally slowing down on not seeing the other riders in the RVM. Hence the two groups were never that far off and maintained a good pace.

We kept cruising at around 75-85kmph. Although I was almost riding my Dio at its top speed, I never felt uncomfortable since whenever I slowed down, other riders reciprocated by doing the same. This was by far the biggest group ride that I have been a part off. I know the touring limits(top speed, range, etc) of my Dio very well and have devised various workarounds to deal with the same, but this is for the times I ride solo. Riding in a big group was new for me since it requires a different sort of discipline. But I immediately felt at home and had no issues what-so-ever.

The first halt was for a photo session, a few kilometers before Kamat's hotel on NH8. Here we all stopped and quickly took some snaps avoiding the oncoming traffic.

                              Part 2

                              Breakfast Time
After the photo session we resumed towards kamats for our breakfast. At kamat's we all reintroduced ourselves, chatted and had breakfast. Praneet was the only one who bought the unlimited buffet, and proceeded to share the same with everyone !! At some point the hotel management appointed two waiters just to keep an eye on praneet's sharing tactics. Praneet just ignored them and continued sharing the food !! Others had the usual tea/coffee - wada sambhar, etc. Again after a quick photo session we resumed the ride.

                              Tale of the 'manja'
Next we stopped near Charoti toll plaza where a long piece of 'manja' had got stuck in the rear wheel of Praneet's p220. I offered a stripper (no not that one, but a wire stripper !!) as the guys tried cutting the manja which had got completely entangled in and around the sprocket area of the p220's rear wheel. Since the SH29 exit was not so far away I proceeded to top up fuel at a near by fuel station and waited for the other guys to resume.

Also some DIY on rear disc brake free play was done
