  • The first solo trip [Pune - Mulshi - Tamhini ghat - Diveagar]

Hi xbhpians!!! Hope you all are as energetic and as enthusiastic as I am.

I write this blog from a small cottage in Diveagar which will be my abode tonight. Time : 1930 hours. And the village already seems to be sleeping

    Details :
    Bike - Pulsar 180 UG4
    Route - Pune - Mulshi - Tamhini ghat - Mangaon - Mhasala - Diveagar.
    Date - 12 Dec 2014.

So it all began with the travelogues in Xbhp. Always read the stories of fellow xbhpians regarding the bike trips! Consequently i made up my mind for a solo ride! Place was decided as Diveagar due to its proximity with Pune. I had an off on Friday. What can be better than visiting a beach without the hustle bustle of weekends.

Plan was to leave Pune (Magarpatta) by 8. It stretched to 9.30 . So i geared myself with helmet, elbow guards, knee guards, ear plugs and set off for the marathon ride. My first stop was after 300 metres :P. Got the brakes fixed. The next stop took me just 300 another meters as i had to get nitrogen refilled.
So here I was on the road finally! The roads are almost smooth till Tamhini. I just loved cornering before the Mulshi lake.

Had a lunch stop at the famous Paradise Cafe on the shores of Mulshi. Paradise cafe is a nice, calm and beautiful place with an overpriced menu. The veg biryani would cost you 190 bucks. Anyways i had a sandwich and cold drink and resumed my journey. The mighty hills of Tamhini were already visible.

Now here came the twist in the tale. It started raining heavily. I had to take shelter under the tin roof of some localites in Tamhini. I was already late and this rain could easily wash off my plans of Diveagar. It continued till one and a half hours with same force.

It was 3 already. Now going to Diveagar means reaching there by evening which means probably no place to stay there. What would I do then. Will I have to come back all the way to Pune? That too in night. I was frightened with this option. But as someone said :
"In the end you regret the chances you didn't take"

This thought was enough for me to pull up my socks and gear up for the challenge ahead! I set off for the journey again. Within no time, it was sunshine over me! God seemed happy with me. It was an amazing ride after that. The roads are in fantastic condition except for a stretch near Mhasala. At 1635 hours i was already in Diveagar Village.

Now first thing, find a cottage here. I went to a cottage and asked an aunty about a room. The bomb was yet to explode.
Me - Aunty can i get a room here?
Aunty - sure beta, but are you alone?
Me - Yes! (With a sense of pride)
Aunty - sorry! We dont give rooms to single travelers!
Me - Whatttttt....!!!!! Can I get a room somewhere else?
    Aunty - You might!

Depressed! I went to another cottage! Uncle was ready for single traveler but rent was 1000 per night.
Finally third cottage was where my destiny was written! Aunty asked for 500. I got her to 300! And currently I am in the same cottage. Pretty happy with my bargain.

One thing for the locals here... humble, kind, helping and social too. I would just end up talking a lot with every local i meet.
Anyways got freshed up in the cottage. The beach was just 400 meters away. Still took my bike.

Woaahhhhh! Finally the beach. What an amazing feeling. I just felt so accomplished. And the beach, an amazing stretch of a few kms of greyish sand. Went in the sea, clicked a few pics before settling down for a sev puri, vada pav and chai right at the sea shore. The cool breeze and the sunset. Everything was worth it. Didn't do any water sports though. Had all of them at Kashid already.

Its 2000 hours now! I am waiting for my authentic konkani food before calling it a day. I'll attach the pic of food too before I publish my blog!

Just got a confirmation. Food will be given at 2030 hours.

Food.. OMG! thats the best vegetarian konkan food i have had. Amazing, no need to pay the restaurants here! Our local aunties rock!

So guys signing off for today! Planning to spend my morning at the beach tomorrow Will write again if something interesting happens

Nice photos and writing mate! I had been to Tamhini ghats some years back while returning from Harihareswar and it is really one nice spooky place when the Sun goes down!
