My plan
Day1: Delhi-Manali
Day2: Manali-Rohtang-Gramphu-Chandratal, photographs and back.
Day3: Chill, maybe Nagar etc.
Day4: Manali-Delhi.
This plan seems feasible to me. I'll start on thursday itself after office..... so some editing by me depending upon circumstances can be done.
Actually, my frens are out for first time so I don't want them to find it challenging..... or they gonna back out in future

Good if you do it. You should not have any problems since you ride a P220 Just a few pointers:Originally posted by Mik View Post@Ken: Your suggestion just became my travel plan
Me and my wife plan to go to chandratal.
Our proposed itenary:
Please point out whats missing and whether it will be too stressful for pillion
1. Anything in the Gramphu-Losar region is stressful for you, bike and pillion. But it is a GREAT experience. Photographs galore, lovely vistas... unforgettable.
2. Vashist-Delhi is not all that difficult on the way back at one go provided you have a willing and tough pillion especially on the straights from Chandigarh to Delhi which can get boring after the lovely hill curves.
3. Yes it is possible to spend the night at Kullu or Bhuntar (Airport) to have a headstart of about an hour on the way back. But I do not do it since Vashist is too nice and tempting to get away from and stay at Kullu.

@Ken: Your suggestion just became my travel planOriginally posted by ken cool View PostJust remember that Gramphu-Chandratal is NOT easy. But I am sure, with your enthusiasm it will be fine. Just preparing you mentally. Once you reach Chandratal, you will realise that you should be carrying an extra battery set and 4 more GB of space!!!
And if you plan to stay put at Vashist, there is a lovely Water Fall. It is called Jogini Falls. There is one lower and easy access. That is not the "Real" fall. That is the touristy one. For the real Jogini Falls, one has to make an effort to get up there. Takes a good hour of walking. But then again... every metre walked is worth its weight in salt in sweat and tears!.

Our proposed itenary:
Day 1:Friday after office. Ride to Chandigarh.
Day 2:Saturday. After early morning start, reach Vashisht by 2. Exploring the area that day.
Day 3:Spiti/Chandratal and back. Ride towards Kullu in the evening to gain a headstart to Delhi. ---- Have no info. Can it be done ?
Day 4: kullu to Delhi.
Please point out whats missing and whether it will be too stressful for pillion

Wow! It SOUNDS picturesque already!
There was a thread started by Bunny (if I remember correctly) titled 'Weekend destinations to Himachal/ Uttaranchal' or something like this, prior to the server crash. Reviving such a thread would really be informative.Originally posted by ken cool View PostMaybe we should start a "4 day ride possibilities from Delhi" thread.

A 3-day ride plus photography would be something that suits somebody like me!
And moreover, Vashishth is a destination that I want to ride to for quite some-time now. Perhaps, I can get some decent pictures there!

My take, do not stay at Manali. I always say this. But it is worth it. Stay at Vashist, 5kms away from the Lajpat Nagar type hustle and bustle of Manali and its teeming tourists.

Nice trip there. Yes, people tend often to drop out with lots of excuses. But you had a good time. Taking pillion is not always easy. It is tough on the pillion. Once I did a 600 km run on a Bullet with a pillion. That pillion could not walk for two days!!!
Lots to do in Manali and around. Great place. Do keep us updated about such plans.
Thanks for sharing.
