              Log continued...

We started by 5.15 am from Alleppey. Took a coffee break at Edapally and had breakfast at Angamaly. Took the deviation to Athirapilly from Chalakudy by about 7.45 am

Stopped by a small but beautiful place before Athirapilly for some snaps

              The morning sunrays

              The sun began to shine

Next stop was the bridge in from of Silver Storm.

The blue sky was just magnificient

              View down the bridge

              The opposite side

              180" view

              Silver Storm Amusement park

We passed by Athirapilly by around 8.30 am. Decided to skip it as we all had been there.

Stopped at Vazhachal as it wouldn't consume much time.

So peaceful without any tourists at this hour

Water running over the rocks was music to the ears

Set off from Vazhachal by 10.15 am. The route to Valparai was just perfect. Thick forests on either sides, smooth well maintained tarmac, lots and lots of long sweeping curves and sharp turns and some wild animals if you get lucky or may be unlucky!. We didn't see any eventhough the route was filled with elephant dung some of them fresh!

              Smooth tarmac

              Cornering every chance we get

The Sun began to take its toll on us

Enjoy the Tea Plantations of God's own country

              Into the plantations

              Green, Green all around

              Saving some more for later!

              Sholayar Dam

From the top of the Dam

Lunch was from Valparai. Had some delicious Tamil Nadu style biriyani from Sri Lekshmi Chettinadu Mess. Left for Pollachi by around 2pm

              Valparai - Pollachi route

Route was filled with hairpins. Eventhough the numbered ones are only 40 am sure there were double that number!

              Cyclists along the way

              Some more greenery

              The only animal we saw!

Say bye to the Tea plantations

There is a Loam's View point on the 8/40th hairpin. The view is surreal! But if you want an even better view stop a few hairpins before that.

Enjoy the view from the top

See the hairpin at the bottom. That is Loam's

              At Loam's

              The way down

              8/40 hairpin

Valparai - Aliyar was just 60+km but we took 3 hours to cover it. The route was serene!

We stopped for tea at Aliyar by 5pm. Decided to skip the Dam as we were short on time and left for Thrissur. Apart from the Vadakkancherry - Thrissur stretch rest of the roads were well maintained

              Dinner at McD, Thrissur

Got held up by some heavy rain around Edapally - Vytilla road but reached Alleppey at around 12.30 am.

It was an amazing trip. Saw some of the best places in South India, had lots of fun and above all spent most of the 17 hours on a motorcycle!

              Thanks for your patience...

              Until next time

A short video of the ride
