  • Day3:Updated: Page 12: 26thSept-29thSept:Delhi-Binsar-Sheetlakhet-Nainital Ride

I really need a break from all that happened in the last month. Following on the heels of the ride to Dhanaulti last month, I decided to pick on Binsar this time. This is based on Manan's recommendation.

    Some details:

    Distance: ~350kms

    Plan:
Day 1: Friday 26th September: Delhi - Binsar via Nanital
Day 2: Saturday 27th September: Around Binsar
Day3: Sunday : 28th September: Binsar to Delhi

    Total distance: ~750kms

Cost of accomodation per night for one person : ~750 INR (one room is 1500INR).

    Other Facts

    • Altitude : 2400m
    • Climate : Cold in winter, snow Dec-Feb. Cool in summer.
    • Clothing : Heavy woolens in winter, light in summer nights, none during noon. Use high boots if you want to roam around in the jungle.

    What to do

Binsar is famous for it's views of the snow capped Himalayan mountain ranges, so one can sit back and enjoy the view while savouring your favourite drink. One can also go trekking with abundant nature trails available from Binsar. Binsar also houses a forest reserve with a rich diversity of flora and fauna with forests of oak and rhododendron with a large species of flowers and birds along with some wild animals. The famous temple of Binsar Mahadev is also nearby. One can also make a detour to nearby places like to Kausani, Ranikhet, Jageshwar or Chowkori.

The final Route which was taken:

    Delhi-Gajraula-Ranikhet-Almora-Binsar-Sheetlakhet-Nanital-Delhi
    Trip log by Manan Chaturvedi

As decided the trip was to be started at Friday morning, which because of all consents shifted to 1 day ahead and we started the trip on Saturday Morning. Riders who have enjoyed this trip were

    Sunny-Karizma
    Manan-RTR160
    Ambar (No1 livesforever)-Karizma
    Asheesh (Vrooooom) - Comet250

Initially the trip was decided to be like this

    Day1

    Delhi - Binsar

    Day2

    Binsar

    Day3

    Binsar - Delhi

However there was something else in the bag of destiny for all of us. First we started our trip 1 day ahead of what was planned. And then our trip goes something like below:

    Day 1

We all met gatherred at the Hapur Toll booth at NH-24 in the morning around 6:00am and moved towards our first stoppage which was Gajraula. Just like ever we stopped at our all time favourite Bhajan Dhaba on this route in Gajraula at around 8:30am. We had a good set of breakfast and moved ahead to Mouradabad.

As and when we entered on the butter smooth highway Gajraula, we couldnot stop our selves and started revving our bikes to the max and soon we were at the point where we had to take a right turn towards Mouradabad, Me and Sunny stopped there for just few seconds and soon I realized that Ambar is aware of this route quite well and he wont miss out on this turn. And exactly what has happened, Soon we were joined by Ambar and Asheesh. Drooling all the way to Rampur, Me and Sunny stopped to wait for Ambar and Asheesh. We waited their for around 30 minutes but there was no sign of them. Now as I was responsible for arranging the accomodation at Binsar, in the meanwhile I contacted the Binsar Personnels and booked the room, and that's when I was told that we have to enter in Binsar before 6:00pm else the doors will be closed.

I was bit worried that we might not be able to enter the Binsar permises within time as it was already 12:30pm when we were at Rampur. Keeping this in mind that Ambar and Asheesh are together, i percieved that they will come on the same route and we moved ahead to Jim Corbet as we wanted to take some wild life photographs as well.

Soon we reached Jim corbet and Again stopped to take some pictures and we again waited for around 20 minutes for Asheesh to join us as he communicated us via HandPhone that he has crossed Rampur and is on the way. But later we tried alot to get in touch with Asheesh but all in vain and we decided to move on slowly towards our destination. We keep on stopping for some photography sessions on the way so that we can be joined by them as well. On our we saw a very beautyful Banyan Tree with a small little temple there which tempted Sunny to stop by and take some good pictures of it. Here we got to know that Ambar has taken a different route and has reached Nainital and this all happened because of our small verbal confussion that has happened while taking our breakfast at Gajraula.

Soon we were teamed up by Asheesh, he was quite furious and one could make it out with his face and tone. Well yes there was some confussion, now as we had to go to Ranikhet we called up Ambar and asked him to reach Ranikhet. We all are once again together at Ranikhet and decided to move on to Binsar. We rushed towards Binsar like mads as we knew that we had to ride good amount of kilometers in a very short time. Till Almora we all were together but again Ambar and Asheesh were left behind, which we realised after reaching Binsar gate.

We reached Binsar gate at exactly 6:00pm, I had to request them and pleaded them to give us the entry inside. After around 15 minutes of discussion I was able to convience them to give us the Entry pass for 4. Finally we reached Binsar KMVN Guest house at around 6:30pm and grabbed our rooms.

After getting freshed we all gathered again in the lobby and took our cameras out to take some great shot of pictures of the Night sky at Binsar. Oh My God it was beautyful. Soon we were addressed by one of the resort employee to come and grab our dinner as the dinner will be available till 9:00pm only. We all grabbed our dinner and went for some more scenic shots and then went for sleep at around 10:30pm.

    Day 2:

We woke up at 5:00am to see an awesome sunrise in the valleys of Binsar. We took around hundreds of shots and lots of Macros. We were doing the photography insanely and we have spent non-stop 6.5 hours in that. We were all planning the day activity when we were told by one of the Resort Employees' that my Bike tyre is punctured. We all were aware that there is nothing ahead and there is nothing 26kms behind. We all decided to pack our bags and move towards Almora as that will be the only place were we could get anything for our bikes.

I reached Almora and found that whole market was closed, fortunately there was one guy sitting on a scooter outside one shop, when I asked him about any shop around he told me that there will be nothing open around and lately he told me that he is the owner of the shop in front of which he was sitting. On requesting he opened the shop for me and made my puncture for my tubeless tyre.

We decided to move towards Nainital and soon we found that my tyre was again flat, by the god grace it right in front of the TVS showroom. We got our tyre changed, and by that time it was quite late so we decided not to go to Nainital and headed towards Sheetlakhet.

On the way this time Abmar got a flat tyre, fortunately I was behind him so we stayed back and took the help of the villagers and parked his bike in the village for the night and we moved ahead to Sheetlakhet. At around 7:00pm we reached Sheetlakhet.

    Day 3

We all were quite relaxed with the allround nature's beauty and were deeply into that. At around 9:30am we decided to start our trip back to delhi. As we have left Abmar's bike, it was planned like this that me and Ambar will go ahead and will get his tyre off the byke and will take it to the puncture shop in Kosi which was around 18-20 kms from that village.

When we reached to the bike, to our shock we found that both of were missing on our toolkits. some I managed to get the toolkit from one of the villager's house and we took started taking out the tyre, and this is when one of the boy came to me and informed that there is sound of air coming from my rear tyre of RTR. Damn! it's again a puncture. We informed Sunny about this and asked them, to come for our rescue.

Soon both Sunny and Asheesh reached there and we opened up my tyre first as there was some issue with Ambar's bike and we were not able to take out his tyre out. Me and Sunny went to Kosi and got my tyre fixed and took the mechanic with us. Mechanic was on his scooter and was riding very slow. we reached quite early back to our place and this is when Sunny played and instant Prank with Ambar and Asheesh. Sunny out of nowhere suddenly said "Sheah! Manan has dropped the tyre on the way in valley, now what to do" welll it was the time when everybody was shoked and had no clue what to do. Oh man that was the time of the trip that we all enjoyed the most.

It took around 5 hours for us to get 2 tyres fixed, well finally we got our tyres fixed at 3:30pm. It was again very late for all of to ride back to Delhi. but Asheesh was quite sure that he has to ride back to Delhi at any cost. We all agreed to reach Nainital and then we'll decide what to do.

We again rode like mads as we had to reach Nainital in the daylight itself. Because Asheesh said that he'll keep on riding till the time he can. However after reaching Nainital, we all decided to take a night halt there and will start early in the morning.

Sunny contacted Manav to know whhich is the best hotel to stay in and then we made our night hault there.

    Day 4

It's 6:00am in the morning when I heard some knock on our room's door, it was Ambar as he woke up early and came wake us up. Asheesh and I had to leave early as we had to reach our offices on time. But still it took 2 more hours to start back to Delhi. Sunny and Ambar decided to stay back for some more time and do some photography.

It was around 8:00am that me and Asheesh started back to Delhi. We rode non-stop till Gajraula and took our first hault there to have our breakfast at 10:15am (we rode rally fast). When we stopped here we got the message from Ambar as well that they have also started and are having there breakfast 20 kms from Nainital. We quickly start back to our destination Delhi. After around 20 kms of journy I realised that I forgot my bag at the Dhaba, and I took a quick turn back towards the Dhaba. After picking up my bag it was like no looking back, both of us were riding like hell. Till we cross the Gajraula, Me and Asheesh were together and suddenly I found that I have left Asheesh some were behind hence I stopped and waited for him. After around 10 minutes a headlight zooming towards me and asked me to continue, just after 1 km from there we stopped and took a glass of famous "Jain Shikanji", and again started back towards our destinations.

It was 12:15pm when we were standing again the start point of our trip and then we dispursed from there and it took me around 5 more minutes to reach back home. Took a good bath and lunch and got ready for office.

At around 6:30pm I got a message from Ambar that he has also reached home.

This was one of the best trips I have ever made in life, full of adventures, beauty and learnings. I wish to have some more trips like this soon quite on and off.

Sunny does this with the express purpose of not including me! He plans it meticulously.

You guys have fun. You will make a nice couple the two of you. First Dhanaulti, now this!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Also Ashish (Vroooom) , yellow Comet wants to join in. But he is requesting that we leave on Saturday instead of Friday and take a leave on Monday instead of Friday. Will it be possible for you to do that?

I have already asked Manan about this and he will confirm tonight. I am also more comfortable leaving on Saturday.

IMO avoid the Ranikhet>Ramnagar strech, its has not been repaired and would be in poor condition.

Rather come back through Almora>Nainital road, which is generally in very very good condition.

One more suggestion(which I and Manan bhai missed in the last ride due to lack of time)
while coming back from almora, before a small town there is iron bridge that goes to Ranikhet, from there ride close 5-7 kms(towards Ranikhet)and there is a kuccha road on the left that goes down and leads to Kosi river, lil offroading and you get to the river itself, along with the bikes. The place is beautiful and gives ample scope for photography in the surroundings.

One more thing according to mapmyindia.com there is road just before the entry to Nainital(From kaladhungi side), please do update us about that road.
